Carter

July. The act supports Holocaust edu
cation programs. Carter said he would
like to make sure schools are teaching
students about the Holocaust.
Carter took a few questions includ
ing one about the current situation
with four homeowners properties be
ing flooded by a beaver dam built on
the St. Simons Land Trust (SSLT)
Guale (Musgrove) property.
According to the SSLT the Dept, of
Natural Resources (DNR) will not let
the dam or the beavers be removed.
Carter seemed to know about the situ
ation but turned the response over
to Rep. Rick Townsend who said he
would follow up with the DNR.
“It doesn’t make sense,” Townsend
said, “to allow these properties to
flood.”
Carter was asked about the House
races around the U.S.
“I think we will keep the majority in
the house. For two decades the house
and senate have been very close. I
think Republicans will keep a five to
seven seat majority in the House and
a two seat majority in the Senate,” he
said.
Carter also discussed FEMA fund
ing for Hurricane Helene. “In Septem
ber we passed a Continuing Resolution
that included a $20 billion appropria
tion to FEMA. They have only spent
about $1 billion.”
“Voting will happen in Western
North Carolina,” he said. “Poling plac
es will be open.”
