SGHS Foundation 2025
Bridge Run registration
now open
Registration for the Southeast Georgia
Health System Foundation’s 2025 Bridge
Run presented by Marshland Credit
Union is now open.
The Bridge Run takes place Feb. 15 on
the 7,780-foot long Sidney Lanier Bridge
in Brunswick
At its center, the bridge measures 480
feet high above the Brunswick River and
only has 300 yards of flat course. Certified
by the U.S. Track and Field Association as
“the toughest 5Kin Georgia,” the course is
sufficiently difficult enough to test the en
durance of both professional and experi
enced amateur runners, yet manageable
enough for walkers of all ages to enjoy.
Participants’ registration fees help
fund the Health System’s cancer and
cardiac care programs. The runners are
joined by business and corporate sponsors
who help cover operating expenses for
this major race.
In addition to the 5K, the Bridge Run
includes a 10K Double Pump where par
ticipants run the bridge not once, but
twice. The event also offers a Firefighters’
Challenge (no registration fee), as well as
a walkers 5K
To kick off the event, a Pasta Party
and Vendor Expo will be held on Friday,
Feb. 14, 5-8 p.m., at the foot of the Sidney
Lanier Bridge. Registered participants
can enjoy all-you-can-eat pasta, salad and
beverages and pick up race T-shirts and
bib numbers. Cost to attend the pasta
party is $8 before January 31 and $10
afterward. Family members and fans are
also welcome to attend the Pasta Party
for $10 per person.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, gates open at
6 a.m. Starting times are: 7 a.m. - 10K
Double Pump; 8:30 a.m. - Firefighters’
Challenge; 9:30 a.m. - 5K; 10:30 a.m. - 5K
Walk. The awards ceremony will take
place at 11 a.m.
All participants will receive a T-shirt,
and registered runners will receive a tim
ing chip and race bib, which can be picked
up at 7 a.m. on the morning of the event
or at the pre-race Pasta Party.
Free parking is available, but heavy
traffic is expected. Participants are en
couraged to arrive early to avoid parking
delays.
Pets, strollers, wheelchairs, in-line
skates and other wheeled devices are not
permitted on the bridge during any of the
events.
Register online at the-bridge-run.org
or active.com, or 800-537-5142, ext. 2786.
Runner registration ends midnight on
Tuesday, Feb.4. There is no day-of-event
runner registration; but walkers may reg
ister on event day.
Adult fees: 10K Double Pump: $55; 5K
Run $40: 5KWalk: $35.
Youth fees: 10K Double Pump: $40; 5K
Run: $20; 5KWalk: $20.
Team (10 or more) fees: 5K Run: $30;
5KWalk $30.
A record number of runners, walkers
and spectators are expected to attend.
Vendors, sponsors and volunteers play a
key role in the event’s success. Volunteers
are needed Friday and Saturday to pro
vide assistance with set-up, food and wa
ter stations, parking, T-shirt and runner
packet distribution, clean-up and more.
