Rockstar Hotdogs sizzle
By Pamela Permar-Shierling
If you are craving a hotdog, I mean
a special, delicious covered-in-chili,
slaw, onions, and cheese dog, you must
try Rockstar Hotdogs at 1216 Chapel
Crossing Road.
It’s right there after you turn off of
Highway 17 onto Chapel Crossing in the
first strip mall center on the left.
“It’s an indoor hotdog stand,” man
ager Logan Wilkerson said. “I always
wanted a simple hotdog stand but one
where people could come inside out of
the weather.”
Logan is picky (in a good way) about
hotdogs. “We went through 27 hotdogs
before we found just the right one for us
to serve.”
Rockstar hotdogs are 100 percent
beef, gluten free and kosher. They also
sell Nathan’s hotdogs.
Everything is made fresh daily.
The number one seller is the Mem
phis Dog, a bacon wrapped dog, with
barbecue sauce, chopped scallions, and
cheese.
Nmnber two is the Coney Island
Dog featuring cheese, chib and chopped
onions.
Nmnber three is the slaw dog with
simply cole slaw and mustard.
There are 24 different hotdogs on the
menu but you can have your dog any
way you want it.
Logan has been in Glynn County for
many years by way of Detroit, Michi
gan. She has a masters degree in science
from the University of Michigan and has
taught biology, physics, general science
and chemistry advanced placement
classes.
Customer service is just as good as
the dogs. In fact customer service is out
standing and something Logan consid
ers very important.
“We don’t serve fast food,” Logan said.
‘We serve good food fast and hot.”
Her customer base is extremely var
ied. She enjoys a lot of business from
FLETC but Rockstar’s reputation for
deliciousness has gotten around quickly.
We have people who come up from
Jacksonville just to eat our hotdogs. We
have also had diners from Peru, the Ba
hamas, Poland and England.”
We have a lot of repeat customers,”
Logan said. “Our menu
is well thought out and
I can adapt the meal to
my customers’ needs.”
Rob is the young man
who works with Logan.
“That’s a funny story,”
she said.
“One day a woman
came in with her three
children, and I jokingly
said to her one of your
kids needs a job. Well,
as it turns out that kid
was Rob and he has
been with me for over
two years.”
Along with the hot
dogs, Rockstar serves a
wonderful hamburger.
The meat is freshly
ground daily, never
frozen.
You can also have
fries and a green salad,
or chips.
Rockstar is open six
days a week: Monday
through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 3
p.m.; Friday 8 a.m to 6 p.m. and Satur
day from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
14th Annual Holiday
