A Christmas Carol Brings the Holiday Spirit(s)!
Join Golden Isles Arts & Humani
ties for some holiday spirit(s) live
on stage at the Historic Ritz The
atre with the annual production of A
Christmas Carol.
Performances will take place De
cember 13-15 and 20-22, Fridays and
Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays
at 3:00 p.m.
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas
Carol was first published in Decem
ber 1843. 181 years later, this ghostly
tale of Christmas endures - and it is
still relevant; it continues to remind
us of the true meaning of the holiday
season.
For those not familiar with the
story, A Christmas Carol is the tale
of the miserable and miserly Ebene-
zer Scrooge, who has no regard for his
fellow man. A visit from his late busi
ness partner, Jacob Marley, who is
“dead as a doornail,” leads to a series
of visits from the Spirits of Christ
mas Past, Present and Future, in the
hopes that Scrooge will change his
ways. In addition to the ghostly ap
paritions, the story is full of wonder
ful characters like Bob Cratchit, Tiny
Tim, Scrooge’s nephew, Fred, and the
Fezziwigs, all who know that the joy
of the season is to be found in their
hearts and in sharing that joy with
others.
This year’s production is an adap
tation by Christopher Schario and
features a cast of 11 actors taking
on all the roles and sharing Dickens’
words in a simple setting but with
all the magic that makes the story
timeless. Bryan Thompson returns
as miserly Ebenezer Scrooge to take
us on this journey through his past,
present and future. The cast also
features Kaytlin Dixon, Luke Har-
lander, Daniel Jackson, Krysta Lee,
Matthew Martin, Jeff Marks, Addie
Pittman, Melissa Reese, Eh Rowell,
and Danielle Thompson.
