SGHS President & CEO accepts West Va. position
After nearly three years at its helm,
Southeast Georgia Health System an
nounced last week that Scott Raynes,
MBA, MA, President and Chief Execu
tive Officer (CEO), has accepted a CEO
position in his hometown in West Vir
ginia and will be departing the Health
System in early March 2025.
In his statement to Health System
staff, Raynes said, “It has been an
honor and a privilege to have had the
opportunity to work for and with you
over the past three years. Many great
things have been accomplished post
pandemic, all as a result of your effort.
Southeast Georgia Health System has
served this community and region in
some capacity since 1888. I am proud
to have been a small part of that and
more proud and confident of what is to
come.”
Among many other accomplish
ments, Raynes successfully led the
Health System through a post-pan
demic financial recovery and intro
duced innovative patient safety stan
dards and processes. He has been a
key part of the Health System’s com
mitment to building and sustaining a
culture of high reliability within the
organization.
During his tenure, Raynes has been
named as one of the 100 most influen
tial Georgians by Georgia Trend Mag
azine and elected to board positions at
the Georgia Hospital Association, the
Georgia Alliance of Community Hos
pitals and the Brunswick-Golden
Isles Chamber of Commerce.
“On behalf of our team mem
bers, physicians, board of direc
tors, and community stakehold
ers, I want to thank Scott for his
steadfast leadership. While I am
excited for Scott and his family,
I am very sad to see him go. He
has done a tremendous job lead
ing the Health System and we are
all better as a result of his lead
ership, vision and friendship,”
said Southeast Georgia Health
System, Inc. Board Chair Jim Lo-
mis. “Like all great leaders, Scott
surrounded himself with an extremely
gifted and committed leadership team
that is more than capable of running
things while we search for our next
CEO.”
The Health System, Inc. Board has
appointed a search committee to begin
the process to identify its next presi
dent and CEO.
