Arco UMC/Trinity Christian Church celebrates 100 years: 1925 - 2025 Interventional Cardiologist joins SGHS Southeast Georgia Health System welcomes board-certified intervention al cardiologist, Amir Abdoly, DO, to Southeast Georgia Physician Associ- ates-Cardiology, and to the Brunswick Campus medical staff. Abdoly completed undergraduate work and a master’s degree at Boston University and earned his doctor of os teopathy degree at Nova Southeastern University. His internal medicine resi dency and cardiology fellowship took place at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He also com pleted an interventional cardiology fel lowship at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa. Prior to joining the Health System, Abdoly worked as an interventional cardiologist at First Coast Heart and Vascular, a busy cardiology practice with multiple locations across Jack sonville and Northeast Florida. As an interventional cardiologist, Abdoly diagnoses and treats heart conditions, frequently using minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures. “I can often treat issues such as coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease, as well as perform angioplas ties and stent placements without re quiring open heart surgery,” he says. Abdoly pursued the cardiology field because he wanted to improve quality of life for people with heart conditions, many of which can be life-threatening. He enjoys the balance of clinical and procedural work that cardiology pro vides. “Working in the hospital setting has been an incredibly rewarding jour ney. There is profound satisfaction in making a positive impact on people’s lives. Having a direct connection to patients allows me to witness how re silient they are, especially while fac ing health challenges. Contributing to their recovery is a powerful motivator for being in medicine,” Abdoly said. When interacting with patients, Ab doly considers their individual needs and preferences, and encourages their participation in making decisions. “Clear communication between pa tients and health care providers allows patients to make informed decisions. I like to emphasize a collaborative ap proach between the patient and all of their providers. This allows them to be informed, empowered, active par ticipants in their care.” Abdoly also strives to provide easy access to com prehensive care without delays. Abdoly’s primary focus is on his patients. “I believe in providing emo tional support to the patient, as well as involving the patient’s friends and family in supporting their well-being.” Abdoly chose to work at Southeast Georgia Health System because “The culture prioritizes patient safety, qual ity care and community involvement. When a patient receives care here, they get comprehensive services, advanced technology and positive experiences.” In his spare time, Abdoly enjoys spending time with his family, travel ing and playing tennis. He joins seven other providers at Southeast Georgia Physician Associ- ates-Cardiology in Brunswick. To make an appointment, call 912-466-7660. Since March 20, 1925, the Arco Church has been working and serving others. It may now have a new name but the history is Trinity Christian’s history. The faces are different, espe cially after 100 years, but the desire to love, serve and teach are still there. We are planning to celebrate our 100 year anniversary June 8 at 11:00, with a covered dish dinner following in our Social Hall. The Arco Church began as a need for the new village and its families. Many changes have occurred since then. The refinery that established our village closed, and the organiza tion of two new Methodist Churches drew heavily from the leadership and membership of the Arco Church. The roads of our community were paved, our street name was changed. A four-lane road was built at our back door and we no longer have the village. We have become an independent Wesleyan based Methodist Church and changed our name to Trinity Christian Church. One thing that has not changed is that we still have and need the Christian love and spirit that has sustained us and to continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We feel the Lord has seen us through the last one hundred years for a reason and has a plan for our future.
