0 B Thankful.
On the 24th inst the people of
the U. S. are specially requested io
give thanks for blessings bestowed
this year.
Two huge waves of adversity
threatened this year to engulf the
ships of finance launched by Hun
dreds of worthy citizens in this
portion of this county.
The burning of the warehouse
caused several citizens to sustain
heavy losses, and the temporarj
closing of the First National Bank
caused much anxiety among hun
dreds who owed the bank, as well
as among share holders and the
hundreds who deposited there.
Thanks to the fine work of eoin,
of the best men, the clouds are dis
appearing; and the losses sustain
ed in the temporary closing of tin
bank will not prove so hnrtful.
In counting past blessings many
in this section may raise theii
hearts reverently in praise and
thanksgiving to God, for ths out
look is surely more hopeful.
A Timely Movement
No better movement has started
than for getting Georgians to buy
Georgia products. It is a reproach
upon our State that we should buy
California canned peaches and
plums, aud peas and beans from
othei sections while our own pro
ducts are rotting in the fields
—Valdosta Times.
The Times is absolutely fair and
accurate in this statement. Geor
gia products have few equals an<
no superior. Why refuse to pat
ronize and encourage home pro
duction?—Atlanta Journal.
The Liberal has been pleading
for twenty-four years for a real
canning factory to be established
here. Under the semi tropica
skies, with the adaplablesoil thnf
ty truck planters would soon grow
rich.
It would astonish the average
reader to know how many cans o|
Baltimore tomatoes are eaten in
this county.
Smaller towns than Colquitt ii
sections not so well adapted to th
production of string beans, okra;
tomatoes, sweet potatoes etc ai>
growing rich by canning products
made by thrifty farmers glad o'
an opportunity to diversify.
Delegates Gone.
Mrs. G. J. Roberts, Messrs G
B. Cowart and G. C. Davis, Misses-
Mary Lois Cowart, Veda and Ven
