GIBSON-MERCER
Cheer up, brother, don’t be snappy,
Let a smile replace your frown;
It should make a man feel happy
To see prices going down.
The leaves of the yew-trees are poi
sonous to ealttle, but the fruit b qniet
harmless.
The first examination period at
Gibson-Mercer is just over,-and on
the average, splendid marks were
made.
Gibson-Mercer has a live football
team and are ready to win some
games. They will play A. and M.
at Clarksville Friday.
The Phi Chi society will entertain
the Alpha Sigma society in' the Gib
son-Mercer auditorium next Saturday
evening,'Oct. 16, from until 11:00
o’clock.
The cook proposition at Gibson-
Mercer has been very serious. First
we had Eve, then she left and we
-got Adam, and he left and we raised
Cain until we were Abel to get an
other.
- The Bowman B. Y. P. U. is pro
gressing nicely. They are planning
a public program to be rendered at
an early date.
The girls of Gibson-Mercer have
organized a Y. W. A. and are ex
pecting -to do good work. The boys
have organized a weekly prayer
meeting.

THE TOWN OF DON’Y YOU WORRY
There's a town called Don’t-Von-Worry
On the banks of Kiver Smile,
Where the Cheer-up and Be-Happy
Blossom sweetly all the while;

blossoms beside the fragrant Try,
And the Ne'er-Give-Up and Patience
Point their faces to the sky.

In the province of I-will,

If you think you are beaten-, you- are;
If Vou think you dare not, you don’t,
If "you like to win but you think you
can’t, >
It is almost certain you won’t.
If you think you'll lose,' you're lost,
For out of the world we find
Success begins witli a fellow’s will,
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you ’.|e outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got’to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

But -soon or later the man -who win*
To the stronger or faster man;
