air —A Few Days.
0 boys come ami help us sing,
A few days, a few days,
lluchanan takes ’em on the wing,
Fillmore’s going home ;
llis home will be in Buffalo,
In a few days, in a i ;w days,
His friends now think his cake’s all dough,
Fillmore’s going home.
Chorus —Huzza, huzza, for James Buehanau,
A saw days, in a few days,
He’s bound to take a seat in Canaan,
And Fillmore’s going home.
Fillmore's chickens crowed mighty loud,
For a few days, fora few days,
But now we see them sorrow browed,
Fillmore’s going home ;
His home can’t be in Washington,
But a few days, but a few days,
So he must part with Donelsou,
For both are going home.
Chorus 11 uzza, tc.
1
Fremont men too, soon w ill find,
In a few days, in a few days,
That the Woolly Horse
Fremont’s going home \
Buck and Breck can make the trip,
In a few days, in a few days,
So Fill and Free must let them rip,
For they are going home* * .
Chorus—Huzza, &c.
The Woolly Horse will snor< and prante,
A few days, a few dm,
As he sees old Buck k Breck in advance,
O Woolly’s going home ; )
The Fillmore pony rill only prance,
A few’ days. ?. fc*r /ays,
And come out if -ti * jed in the race,
Fillmore’s going aome.
Chorus —Ho- ‘ <Src.
From Ken’ /k there’ll come a B„
In a few • • in a few r days,
That wii; old Don of Tennessee,
Till fc :s back home ;
From Per there’ll come a Buek,
In a few days, in a few days, *
With his antlers in Fill’s body stuck,
Bolling him on home.
Chorus—Then for the B’sw’c’ll shout and sing.
For a few days, for a few days,
F or they’ll give Fillmore such a sting,
That he will stay at home.
For the Empire State.
Mr. Editor : I-see that the Rev. Dr. Pierce
in his short No. 1, (he calls it No. I—l don’t
think it any great scratch) more than once in
timates at his-delicate position arising from his
being a Minister. If the old man hasn’t got
the big-head too bad, why didn’t he write over
some fictitious name. Any name would have
-done as much good as his. He nays his soul
is too free ever to enter into leading strings
Where’s those Know Nothing strings ? Have
they qnit pulling them ? He says, “l\ o te in
view of sound, moral principle, and leav. all
to God.” That’s the way I guess he’s been
voting for the last 50 years ; and what
Hod Almighty ever done for Win politically (
If he had half the faith in God that he pre
tends to hare, he would have seen the errr£ of
■bis way long since, and joined the Democracy,
where his political prayers might have been
Beard and answered to his heart’s content.—
He may console himself by saying, blessed is
he that holds out faithful to the end, whether
the Lord be with him or not. The’ Editor of
the American Union says that if any one will
him that lillmore w’ould‘sanction the
restoration of the Missouri Compromise Line
he wont vote for him. If that Pandora’s box
can’t ceuvince him, he would not believe fcho’
■one should arise from the dead ! Every ho
nest man, every Union-loving man, every man
who Is willing for every man to have his rights,
who is willing to do as he would be done by,
North and South, East and West, from be
yond the Mountains to the Seaboard, should
oppose Mr. Fillmore for that-expression about
.hat box. lhat box will follow him to his
grave. - u u IYIGIIT.S.
N. B. On Saturday night last, we heard the
Hon. Bob Trippe and Dud Hammond speak
here. Bob two and a half, and Dud three
quarters of an hour, to eight ladies and a hand
fal of men They didn’t say much about the
troubles, because they know the country ne
ver was more prosperous ; and they were in
favor of the repeal of the Missouri Compro
mise Line, through which the fanatics with
their tools, carried the trouble into Kansas,
and they were opposed to the restoration of
this line, even for the sake of peace, and they
try to make us .believe that Fillmore is oppos
ed to it; but they can’t quite come it. That
box is in the way. That box will follow him
to his grave, and when Fillmore is no more,
that box will stand as a living monument that
Mr Fillmore-was opposed to equal rights

A Cure for Cancer. —Mr. Da via Otrfprp
per, of Russcfl county, Al a requests us to
publish to the world, for the benefit of the af
flicted, that he has been cured of Cancer by
the use of the following recipe, and that he be
lieves it is an infallible remedy for this dread
ful disease :
Recipe.— Take equal quantity of the roots
of white ashe, blsck shumac, and fatlightwood
or pine, and boil them in water until a strong
tea is made, and use it for a constant drink in
place of water, tea, coffee, milk and all other
beverages, and eat nothing salt or greasy.—
Take new tar and simmer it over a slow fire
until it forms a tough wax and apply it in the
shape of a plaster to the cancer, over which
first sprinkle corrosive sublimate ; the plaster
and corrosive sublimate to be renewed every
day or every other day as most convenient ;
the cancer to be kept dry. If this remedy is
followed, without regard to pain or swelling,
which will both be great, and all stimulants are
refrained from, Mr. Culpepper guaranties a
perfect and speedy cure. We give the recipe
for what it is worth, without knowing any
thing of its value.

Ad. .-...TAGEs of Paying for a Newspaper
in Advance. — A Boston paper says one of the
facts put in evidence at a trial in the Supreme
Court to sustain the will of the late Wm. Rus
sell, was that only a few days before he made
the will, he called at the office of the Democrat,
and paid for his paper a year in advance, there
by saving fifty cents. The fact was dwelt
apon at length by the counsel, and commented
upon by the judge as one of great importance.
The verdict of the jury would seem to sustain
the proposition that a man vrlio has mind
enough to pay iov Mb newspaper in advance, Js
