Consumption.
Probably no one remedy has ever been known which
cured so many and such dangerous cases as this. Seme
uo hnman aid can reach; but even to those the Cherry
Pectoral affords relief and comfort.
Astor House, New Yoex Citt, March 6,1856.
Doctor Aver. Lowell: I feel it a duty and a pleasure
to inform you what yonr Cherry Pectoral has done for my
wife. She had been five months laboring under the dan

could procure gave her much relief. She was steadily fail

advice, recommended a trial of yonr medicine. We bless

Consumptives, do not despair till you have tried Ayer's
Cherry Pectoral. It is made by one of the best medical
chemists in the world, and its cures all around us bespeak
the high merits of its virtues. — Philadelphia ledger.
Ayer’s Cathartic Pills.
T HE sciences of Chemistry and Medicine have been
taxed their utmost to produce this best, most perfect
purgative which is known to man. Innumerable proofs
are shown that these Pills have virtues which surpass in
excellence the ordinary medicines, and that they win un
precedentedly upon the esteem of all men. They are safe
and pleasant to take, but powerful to enre. Their pene
trating properties stimulate the vital activitiesof the body,
remove the obstructions of its organs, purify the blood,
and expel disease. Theypurgeoutthefoulliumorswhich
breed and grow distemper, stimulate sluggish or disor
dered organs into their natural action, and impart healthy
tone with strength to the whole system. Not only do
they cure the every-day complaints of every body, hnt
also formidable and dangerous diseases that have baffled
Hie best of human skill. While they produce powerful
effects, they are Rt the same time, in diminished doses, the
safest and best physic that can be employed for children.
Beiug sugar-coated, they are pleasant to take; and being
purely vegetable, are free from any risk of harm. Cures
have been made which surpass belief were they not sub
stantiated by men of such exalted position and character
as to forbid the suspicion of untruth. Many eminent
clergymen and physicians have lent their names to certify
to the public the reliability of my remedies, while others
have sent nic the assurance of their conviction that my
Preparations contribute immensely to the relief of my
afflicted, suffering fellow-men.
The Agent below named is pleased to fnrnisli gratis my
American Almanac, containing directions for their use and
certificates of their cures, of the following complaints: —
Costiveness, Bilious Complaints, Rheumatism, Dropsy,
Heartburn. Headache arising from a foul stomach. Nau
sea. Indigestion, Morbid Inaction of the Bowels and Pain
arising therefrom. Flatulency, Isms of Appetite, all Ulcer
ous and Cutaneous Diseases which require an evseunnt
medicine. Scrofula or King's Evil. They also, by purify
ing the blood and stimulating the system, cure many
complaint* which it would not be supposed tiiey could
reach, such as Deafness, Partial Blindness, Neuralgia and
Nervous Irritability. Derangements of the Liver and Kid-
nevs. Gout, and other kindred complaints arising from a
low state of the body or obstruction of its functions.
Do not be put off by unprinripled dealers with gome
other pill they make more profit on. Ask for Ayer's
Pills, and take nothing else. No other they can give
you compares with this in its intrinsic value or enmtiv.
powers. The sick want the best aid there is for them,
and they should have if.

T iiE UNION COAL AND OH, COMPANY of Maysville,
Kentucky, have made the undersigned Agent* for the
Bale of their Oils in this city and region of country. Oils
of a silniliar quality to these, have for a long time been
highly esteemed in Europe for tlioir lubricating qualities,
and wherever used in this country, the Oils made by
this Company, have been pronounced by the many par
ties using them to be fully equal to the best Sperm, at a
price greatly reduced. The Oils made by this Company,
differ materially from other Cauiiel Coal Oils sold in this
country. Every barrel of Oil sold by this Company is
warranted to answer the purposes for which it is intended.
The Oil is pronounced by competent judges to be the
cheapest and best that can be obtained for Railroads,
Cotton-Mills and all other ilno machinery as the following
certificates, from individuals now using it, who are ex
tensively known here and elsewhere, will prove. For
sale in large quantities at the wholesale prices, at which
it is furnished at the Factory, with insurance, freight and
exchange added. CLARKE k LEWIS, Agents,
Atlanta, Ga.
Atlanta, Feb. 18th, 1858.
This will certify, that we are now using the CannelCoal
Oil, manufactured by the Union Coal and Oil Company,
•u the Atlanta 4 West Point Railroad, and wc have found
tho Oil a very fino Lubricator, much superior to the sperm
Oil we have boon using which costs us in New York, $1.40
per gallon. The Oil beiug free from gum, it has a thin
appearauco, but its lubricating qualities, make it a better
Oil than we have been aide to obtain and we have no
doubt but that it will be generally used for Railroad pur
poses, aud other lino muchinery. W. RUSHTOX,
Mastor Machinist, Georgia Railroad Shop. ■
Master Machinist’s Office M. & C. R. R. )
Memphis, January 0,1858. j
This will certify tliat I am using tho PAKAFFING CAN-
NELCOAL OIL, manufactured by the Coal aud Oil Com-
panyof Maysville Ky., in our Machine shops and on the
locomotives on the Memphis aud Charleston Railroad, aud
having given it the severest tests, in order to prove its
qualities as a lubricating oil. I have no hesitation in
’-ecommendingit as a superior Oil for Railroad purposes,
s jth in regard to economy and as a perfect Lubricator,
-believe it to bo the best oil I have used, and that one
gallon will go as far as two gallons of lard Oil. The ma
chinery is uow running in the shops with twenty per
cont. less power than is required lor ordinary oil. The
fluidity of the oil arises, I am couvincod, from the total
absence of gum, and docs not affect its lubricating prop
erties, hut only requires that the orifices in the oil cups
and feelers should be reduced in order to use the oil
economically. WM. R. NICHOLS,
Master Machinist.
The above named Wm. Nichols, is Master Machinist on
the Western division of the Memphis and Charleston Rail
road. From his knowledge of lubricating oils, and his
long experience in their use, he is abundantly aide to
judge in the opinion expressed above. B. AYRES,
Superintendent Transportation, M. D.
W. R. Nichols is the Master Mechanic in our shops at
this place, and I have every confidence in hU opinion as
a man well qualified to fill the position he occupies. His
opinion in relation to the Lubricating Oil referred to in
the foregoing certificate, is entitled to high consideration.
