A woman there said Highland has been harassing her and all the women that come on the property about having sex with him. She said that he has been doing this for months, and has been following her when she leaves the property. She said she has lived at the location in a separate camper for over a year. Highland was located inside another small camper in the front yard. He refused to come out but said he would talk to officers in the doorway. Colbert man faces family violence charge A Colbert man was arrested on a family violence charge last week. Lewis Christopher Robinson, 37, was charged with one count of simple battery FVA. An officer was dispatched to West Second Avenue regarding a family disturbance. He met with Robinson and a woman, noting that Robinson was calm and “was more concerned with his chicken wings on the grill than with why we were called.” He told the officer that nothing had happened and there was no reason for us to be called, it was just a verbal argument. The woman, however, was in her bedroom crying and somewhat hysterical. Both parties had been drinking, according to the report. The woman said that they had an argument and she went into her room to get away from Robinson and he came after her, demanding that she give him the beer she’d just opened, since it was the last one they had. She said she told him no and he reached up and hit her shoulder and knocked her aside. The woman’s 15-year old daughter witnessed the incident. The woman said she’d been struck before, and that after “17 years of it, she had had enough.” When told he was being placed under arrest, Robinson reportedly made the comment that “if she’s not bleeding and there are no marks, then nothing happened.” While in the patrol car he allegedly began yelling that the officer had no right to arrest him “just because he is the man.” He also started bouncing in the seat and rocking forward and did not stop until he hit his head on the protection screen in the car and continued to protest, but then started wanting to know how fast he could bond out. He also stated “the only thing he could think to do was leave the county and his old lady if he was going to stay out of trouble.” In another incident, a homeless man apparently stole a soft drink from the Golden Pantry in Hull so he would be arrested and have some place to stay. Harley Dehaven Crow, 29, no address listed, was charged with one count of theft by shoplifting when a clerk called E-911 after he said a white male wearing several face tattoos entered the business and removed a Fanta soft drink and walked toward the register. The clerk said he told the man it was shift change and the register was down for a few minutes. The man allegedly stated “call the cops” and walked out the door at that point. The responding officer found the man, identified as Crow, on the side of the building where he had spilled the drink out on the sidewalk. He said he took the drink because he was homeless and had nowhere to stay. In a third incident, Matthew Darrell Drake, 31, of Colbert, was arrested for simple battery FVA and aggravated assault after an E-911 call came in that he had threatened a woman with a knife. An officer went to the Diamond Hill ballpark where he witnessed a black female and a white male (Drake) fighting. The officer recognized them from previous incidents. Drake was found to be drunk and to have a folding pocket knife in his front pocket. Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office included: •A riding lawnmower was reportedly stolen on Homestead Road last week. A woman said someone took the red and black lawnmower while she was in the hospital. •A woman was taken into custody for Lawrenceville Police Department after Ingles Food Store reported that an RV was sitting in their parking lot taking up three spaces and the driver had refused to move. The woman, Brandy Nicole Williams, 34, of Social Circle, was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Lawrenceville and was taken into custody. Her dog, which was sleeping under the vehicle, was picked up by animal control and her RV was towed. •Harassing phone calls were reported on Frank Bird Road last week. A man there said he has been receiving phone calls from someone sounding drunk who identified himself as the previous tenant’s husband. The caller accused him and his wife of trying to have a menage a trois with his wife and threatening him. He said the only contact he had with the previous tenant, was to make arrangements for her to purchase the washer and dryer left in the trailer. The landlord said he had also gotten a call from the same number, with the man asking to speak to his (the caller’s) wife. He said he told him his wife was not there and he hung up. •Theft by taking was reported on Jot-Em-Down Road last week. A man there said someone cut the lock on his gate and took his flatbed trailer. •A man went to the sheriff’s office last week to report harassing phone calls from his wife. He said he woke up that morning to find he had about 15 voicemails from his wife. All the voicemails, according to the man, were vulgar and talking about him and a woman he is supposedly seeing. He said he is not seeing anyone and did not know what she was talking about. An officer listened to the voicemails and could hear a woman screaming, calling him names, about the way he treats his daughters and about him seeing another woman. In one message, the woman stated she would “rip his head off.” He said he was served with a TPO about 11 a.m. that day in another county. The officer told him to keep all the voicemails on his phone and present them when him and his wife go to court. •Family violence was reported on Musket Ridge last week. A white female flagged down a deputy on patrol on Oak Bend Drive and told him that she and her husband had just had an argument. He and another officer met the woman back at the home where she told them her husband had hit her with a set of keys, but kept changing the story as to where he had hit her. She said they were arguing over an extra-marital affair. She also complained of bruises to her arms. The officer noted that the bruises appeared to be several days old and were consistent with needle wounds commonly known as “track marks." Her husband said she had been talking and acting strangely for the last several days and has made several false accusations recently. He said they did argue, but there was no physical contact. When the officer spoke to the woman again, she admitted to using methamphetamine recently and said she has been depressed. She also said she was bipolar. The officer noted that while speaking with her she would talk about several different personal problems and go from one subject to another rapidly. She agreed to see a doctor to seek help for her drug addiction and mental issues and was given a ride to the hospital. •Someone allegedly stole a motorcycle from Morningside MHP on Hwy. 72 last week. •Identity fraud was reported on Roger’s Mill Road last week. A woman went to the sheriff’s office last week to report that her bank debit card had been compromised. She said she became aware the card was compromised when she tried to use it and it was declined. She still had the card in her possession and did not know how someone got her information. •Criminal trespass was reported on Paul Smith Road. A man said someone threw rocks and shattered a window on his home. The responding officer found three small rocks on the porch below the window. No one had entered the home through the window. The man’s car had also been entered the previous day. •Criminal trespass was reported on Pleasant Acres Farm Road. A couple reported that someone took a screen off the back of their home. The husband said he also found two pry marks on the windows and another screen missing after looking around the house. Nothing was reported missing and the couple did not think entry had been made into their home. •Harassing phone calls were reported on Garnett Ward Road last week. A woman said she had gone to a home in Jackson County to help her cousin remove things from the home. While they were there, she and her cousin both told the responding officer that the woman at the home fried to fight them saying she felt as though she was disrespecting other people at the home. At some point that evening, the woman began texting and calling both her and her cousin making threats and saying she had “written a check that her @$$ couldn’t cash and that she would be sending her cousins at her.” •Burglary was reported on Lexington Road last week. A man said he returned home from work to find that both the glass on his back door was busted out and the door open. He found his TV and a Ruger 9mm handgun missing. •Shoplifting was reported at the Dollar General on Glenn Carrie Road last week. The manager said a black female carrying a large purse entered the store and put underwear and bras in the purse and left without paying for them. •A woman on Amberly Drive reported that someone stole a black air compressor from her carport. •Burglary and criminal trespass were reported on Lexington Road last week. A woman said she left her home to go to the store and when she returned, only one of her dogs met her at the door, which was unusual, and she could hear the other barking from her bedroom. She went inside and let the dog out and then noticed that she did not hear the TV, which she had left on when she went to the store. She then discovered the TV missing. She went outside to call E-911 and wait for police because she was unsure if anyone was still in her home or not. No one was found inside and officers discovered the suspect got inside by climbing through a small window on the back of the house that had been painted shut. Fingerprints and footprints were found in several areas, but nothing else was missing. It appeared the suspect came and left with the TV on foot. •Burglary and theft by taking were reported on Buddy Moore Road last week.
