Watson led the offensive
attack with a combined 12
kills and 14 assists.
“The girls fought hard
in the elimination match
against Number Four
Oconee County, but lost in
the final few rallies” said
Coach Brooke Cooper. “The
defense worked hard against
Oconee County.”
Cooper said Strozier had 12
digs, Watson had 10, Bullock
seven. Haley Fricks and
Holly Glenn had four each.
“It may not show in the
numbers, but we had a great
season,” said senior captain
Sam Watson.
“We finished our season
with a record of 10-22. but the
caliber of our opponents was
drastically higher this season
than in seasons past,” said
Cooper. “Many games were
lost in three sets or by a few
points. The girls played better
together as a team and their
skill has greatly improved.”
Coaches said that “as vol
leyball continues to grow at
Madison County, the Lady
Raiders’ goal is to continue to
step the program up to anoth
er level to be competitive
with the rest of the region.”
Madison County is coached
by Brooke Cooper and Kyle
Cooper. Kyle Cooper's junior
varsity squad had a stellar
season, finishing 2016 with a
record of 20-8.
