DECEMBER 18. 2024 School High School JROTC earns Honor Unit with Distinction status In a “remarkable” achievement, Madison County High School’s JROTC program has earned the esteemed Honor Unit with Dis tinction (HUD) status, according to First Ser geant Francisco Ra mey. This prestigious rating is the highest honor a Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) can receive. Only 10% of all JROTC programs worldwide achieve this milestone. The Honor Unit with Distinction sta tus is symbolized by a gold star displayed on the cadets’ uniforms for three years. This prestigious rating is a testament to the pro gram’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to develop ing the leaders of to morrow, said Ramey. The program was of ficially recognized on Dec. 12. “This mile stone marks a signifi cant accomplishment for the program and serves as a shining ex ample of the cadets’ hard work, determina tion and commitment to excellence,” Ramey said. The program’s suc cess can be attributed to the “exceptional” leadership and team work demonstrated by the cadets, instructors and supporting staff. Key cadet leaders who contributed to this achievement include: Cadet LTC Isabel la Jaramillo, Cadet Major Lindy Wilson, Cadet CSM Brandy Wood, Cadet CPT Jor- ga Means, Cadet Cap tain Alexus William son, Cadet Captain Gigi Collins, Cadet 1SG Lukas LaDuke and Cadet PFC Azyon Goshen.
