University of Georgia celebrates Class of2024 The University of Georgia honored over 3,200 candidates for graduation in the Class of 2024 during its recent Commencement ceremonies. The church will be giving out hot choc olate and candy canes. Everyone is invited to stop by for a visit. The event will happen rain or shine; there will not be a make-up day if it rains. Gordon’s Chapel Methodist Church, Hull, will have its Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. Danielsville Method ist Church, 295 General Daniel Avenue N., will have a candlelight can dlelight Christmas Eve Service on Dec. 24 at 6:30 p.m. “Everyone is invited to come worship and celebrate the Christ mas season.” Mount Hermon Pres byterian Church, 5560 Commerce St., Ila, will hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. There will be carols, communion, stories and special music celebrat ing Christmas. Danielsville Method ist Church, 295 Gen eral Daniel Avenue N., will host soloist Stanley Pierce on Sunday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. Pierce or ganized and sang lead with his first gospel quar tet, The Temple Aires in 1970. Since then he has sung with the Songs- men Quartet and Heav en Bound. He has sung temporarily with several other gospel groups as well. Now, he travels and sings as a soloist. He and his wife Peggy have a strong faith and are avid supporters of Saint Jude’s Children Hospi tal. “Please come hear Stanley Pierce tell his story and sing his prais es to the Lord,” church leaders said. ONGOING EVENTS Moons Grove Baptist Church, 1985 Moon’s Grove Church Road, Colbert, has announced the dates for its free food distribution. 2025 distribution dates will include 1/22, 2/26, 3/26, 4/23 and 5/28. Hours are from 10 a.m. to noon. The clothes closet will also be open during the food distribution. Peo ple can call the church to set up an appointment for the clothes closet as well. Headmaster’s Corner by Steve Cummings CHRISTMAS MIRACLES, THE SHEPHERDS - The shepherds that lived outside of Bethlehem were quite ordinary. They were not wealthy, they were not powerful, and they were not held in high esteem. Yet on the night Jesus was born, an angel appeared to these shep herds and announced the good news: “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Why did God choose lowly shepherds to receive this spe cial message? Perhaps it was because they raised lambs that were sacrificed as sin offerings. God knew that one day Jesus would be the atoning sacrifice for mankind, and that His shed blood would cover the sins of those who believe in Him.
