Mr. Harris was bom in Gainesville, the son of the late James J. Harris and the late Lillie Mae Brown Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Diane Thomas Harris; two sisters, Rosie Mae Ry der and Geneva Spencer; and two brothers, Russell Harris and James Edward Harris. Mr. Harris, first and foremost, was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith. He was a family man constantly and consistently demonstrating his love through words and deeds. His kindness and charity will stand as a benchmark among his family and friends. He was a long-time and faithful member of Pond Fork Baptist Church. He was a carpenter, building from his imagination, anything from a simple toy top to home additions for himself, family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting almost all his life, never failing to share what he had learned to improve the skills of others. He was an avid guitarist playing for friends, family and audiences alike. He re tired after 32 years from General Motors working in the maintenance department. Survivors include son, Cecil Lamar Harris, Jeffer son; granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Dubois (William). Mr. Holloway was born on February 19, 1941, in Royston, son of the late Robert Harrison Holloway and the late Corene Porterfield Holloway. He was the son of the late Grover L. Jones Sr. and Pauline Bullock Jones. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resi dent of Hull and a 1957 graduate of Madison Coun ty High School. After graduation, he worked with his father and brother, Buddy Jones, in their family busi ness of Jones Construction where they built numerous residential houses in the Madison County and Clarke County areas. He and his wife later owned and operated Jones Grocery and Gas Station on Highway 72 in Ath ens until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Jones was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserves and a member of Hull Baptist Church where he attended most of his life until his health no longer allowed him to attend. Mr. Jones was a loving husband, father and Grandaddy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Lovem Jones; par ents, Grover L. Jones Sr. and Pauline Bullock Jones; a sister, Weebie Ann Stamps; and brothers, Warren Jack- son “Buddy” Jones, and Oscar Paul “O.P.” Jones. Survivors include his children, Patsy Jones Adams (Greg), Hull, Billy J. Jones (Melanie), Athens, and Su zanne Jones Brown (Ray), Danielsville; grandchildren, Tyler Adams (Kelsi), Bogart, Trey Adams (Kathleen), Athens, Amber Williams (Jamie), Charlotte, North Carolina, Caleb Jones (Mallory), Colbert, and Kaylee Brown, Danielsville; and several nieces and nephews. Week of December 16-22 Sanford "Sonny” Leon Kellum COMMERCE — Sanford “Sonny” Leon Kellum, 86, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated pro fessional, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, in Commerce. Bom on August 5, 1938, in Point Peter, Sonny lived a life characterized by hard work, family devotion and service to his country. A proud Veteran, Sonny served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, where he exempli fied the values of disci pline and commitment to a greater cause. Following his military service, he channeled his skills into a successful career as a self-employed businessman, op erating Sonny’s Fabrication for 20 years. His work not only provided for his family but also reflected his crafts manship and dedication to quality. Sonny’s legacy is carried on by his two sons, William Frankie Kellum and Michael W. (Dell) Kellum, as well as one cherished grandchild. He was a loving father and grandparent, grounding his family with love, wisdom and enduring support. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jerry and Inez Holcomb Kellum; his beloved spouse, Delores Faye Buie Kellum; his sisters, Dot Wilson and Connie Kesler; and one grandchild. Week of December 16-22 James Robert "Jimmy” Langston ROYSTON — James Robert “Jimmy” Langston, 79, Royston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. A lifelong resident of the Franklin County area, he was a son of the late Ford Langston and Grade Belle Roberts Langston. Jimmy was a Veteran of the Unit ed States Army having served two tours in Viet nam as a Staff Sergeant (E- 6).
