The party will feature live music, food tracks, lo cal beer and adoptable pets from MOAS. The pets will be available for adoption on site. Ila Garden Club receives c Taking Care of Business’ award The Madison County Chamber of Commerce presented the Ila Garden Club with the “Taking Care of Business” award on Dec. 13, recognizing their efforts in the community. The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee gives out the TCB award quarterly to government agencies or business support organizations that are taking care of local businesses through business friendly protocols and practices. The committee received nominations from the community and membership. Chamber membership ultimately voted for Ila Garden Club to be the recipient of this quarterly award. According to Chamber leadership, the Ila Garden Club was recognized for their efforts in the following areas: • Ongoing downtown beautification and shop local efforts in cluding but not limited to: • Installation and maintenance of flower planters to promote branding and sense of place in downtown Ila. • Participation and promotion of the Chamber’s annual Spring Ladies Night Out event. • Annual collaboration with the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and its members, to host scarecrows in Ila for the annual “Scarecrows in the Cities” event. • Collaborating with local merchants to facilitate major com munity events, such as the annual “Christmas in Ila” event, that draws thousands of tourists locally and regionally to Madison County. • Working with the Chamber to leverage state resources that support downtown visioning and street-scaping. ATHENS NATIVE SERVES AB OARD USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN Aviation Electronics Technician 2nd Class Runako Carruth, from Athens, secure straps on support equipment aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Abraham Lincoln, flagship of Carrier Strike Group Three, is underway conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations. As an integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet operates naval forces in the Indo-Pacific in addition to providing realistic and rel evant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy’s timeless roles of sea control and power projection. U.S. 3rd fleet works in close coordination with other numbered fleets to provide commanders with capable, ready forces to deploy forward and win in day-to-day competition, in crisis, and in conflict. Madison County Sheriff’s Office Dep uty Sarah Williams, a certified CHAMPS instructor, led the program at HSES this school year. CHAMPS’s mission statement is “to pro vide an educational program for Georgia’s youth, which provides guidance, and the skills, ability and knowledge to be safe, healthy and happy, in preparation for a suc cessful life.” CHAMPS stands for “Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safe ty.” CHAMPS was founded in 2003 by the Georgia Sheriffs’Association. City of Commerce Meter Connection Madison County, Georgia Separate sealed Bids, for furnishing all materials, labor, tools, equipment and appurtenances necessary for the installation of water main and associated appurtenances will be received by the Owner at the Madison County Board of Commissioners Office - Public Meeting Room, 91 Albany Avenue, Danielsville, Georgia, until 10:00 a.m., local time, on January 16,2025 and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. Any sealed bids received after this date and time will notbe accepted. Each Bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope, addressed to the Owner. The Project consists of, but is not limited to the following major elements: Installation of approximately 400 LF of 8-inch water main with associated appurtenances, installation of concrete meter vault with water meters, backflow preventers, and pressure reducing valve. The Madison County Industrial Development & Building Authority is the owner of the water system. The OWNER will provide water main and associated materials for the project. The work will be awarded in one Contract. A Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the Bid Amount is required.
