Girls basketball team wins Christmas Classic The Madison County High School girls basketball team won both of their tournament games over the weekend to be crowned champions of the Red Raider Christmas Classic. The team won the first game of the tournament on Dec. 20, in a decisive 67-37 victory over Pendleton. The Lady Raiders were maintained firm control of the game through all four quarters on their way to a comfortable win. They then took on the Winder-Bar row Bulldoggs the following night on Dec. 21 in the final round of the tour nament. Madison County jumped out to an early 28-12 lead after the first half, and then was able to fend off a late resur gence from the Bulldoggs to hold on for a 38-30 win, and got to hoist the Red Raider Christmas Classic trophy in front of the home crowd. After a brief holiday break, the Lady Raiders will travel to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to take part in the Smoky Mountain Winter Classic. Their first game of the tournament will be against the 6-2 Warren East Raiders, from Bowling Green, Ken tucky, on Dec. 26. Depending on the results of that game, the Lady Raiders could then play in subsequent rounds against to-be-an nounced opponents on Dec. 27 and 28.
