The Madison County High School baseball team has had a rocky start to the season. The team lost a pair close games against Hart County last week, fall ing 2-1 in the first contest on Feb. 24 before losing a shootout 13-10 in the next game on Feb. 26. The team did manage to get its second win on the year on March 1 against White County; a 3-0 shutout. On March 3, MCHS dropped a game 5-3 to Habersham Central, moving the Raiders’ record to 2-8 on the season. Following a March 5 clash with East Jackson, the team will take on Oconee County at home on Friday, March 7, at 5:30 p.m. The team will then have three consecutive games against North Oconee, starting with a road match- up on March 11, followed by a home double-header on March 14, at 5 and 7:30 p.m. The Red Raiders baseball team link arms before the start of their game on Feb. 26. Girls soccer team struggles after hot start The Madison County High School girls soc cer team has hit a rough patch after getting out to an early 3-0 start to the season. The team lost a Feb. 25 clash against the 5-1 North Oconee Titans in a 7-0 shutout. The girls suffered another defeat at the hands of the 2-4 Walnut Grove Warriors on Feb. 28, by a final score of 5-0. The team has yet to score a goal since their Feb. 21 win over Ste phens County and have given up 12 points over that same period.
