The team opened the month with a 4-0 shutout of their own against Wind er-Barrow on March 4. The girls then defeat ed their region rivals, the Flowery Branch Falcons, in a close 1-0 game. The Lady Raiders are now in prime position to make a run at the state tournament this year, as they sit at 5-2 with a short break in the action. The team will get back to business on March 21, when they will travel to face the 3-3 Eastside Ea gles. The next home game will take place on March 27, as MCHS hosts East Forsyth. BOYS SOCCER The boys soccer team split games last week, first defeating Winder-Barrow on March 4. The team then lost a close 3-2 game to Flowery Branch to find themselves with a 2-5 record heading into the back half of the season. The Raiders face 4-3 Jackson County on March 11, before having a short break in action, resuming with a home game against 5-3 East Forsyth on March 27. Horse shows: • The 2025 horse shows are scheduled for April 12, May 17, Sept. 20 and Oct. 25 at the Morgan County Agricultural Center, 2380 Athens Highway (U.S. 441), Madison. The events welcome families, novice and returning riders, and those witli “green” horses. Classes are $12 eacli and include hunter, Western, gaited, trail obstacles, rancli riding, rancli reining, dressage on the rail and “small fry” divi sions. A full class list is available online. Online enrollment: •New in 2025, the club is offering an easy online sign-up process for classes and awards for championship points. The website features a “Welcome to Horse Showing” guide, and Kel-Mac is now on Instagram. Workshop in Athens: •Kel-Mac is also introducing the “Ob stacles are Opportunities Trail Workshop” on Marell 22 at Sandy Creek Rancli in Athens. Trail judge Elizabetli Waelde will provide training on navigating obstacles in trail classes. Riders can participate witli their horses or attend as auditors. Regis tration is open as of Marell 1. Horse showing workshop: • A “Horse Showing 101 Workshop” led by Judge Andre Machado is also coming soon. Watson Mill event: • The next scheduled day trail ride is Marell 29 at Watson Mill Bridge State Park. Riders are invited to enjoy a sce nic route tlirougli the woods and connect witli fellow equestrians. For details on day rides and camping trips, contact Sha ron Wood at 2525bullet@aol.com. Over the past 49 years, Kel-Mac volun teers and sponsors have raised more than $170,250 for local charities and equine facilities. Most recently, the club donated $2,740 back to the community. The 2024 recipients included the Georgia Equine Rescue League, ReDux Equine Rescue, Sweet Olive Rescue, the Morgan Coun ty Sheriff’s Empty Stocking Fund, and equestrian facilities at A.H. Stephens State Park, Hard Labor Creek State Park and Heritage Park.
