We will be serving witli our home church, Trini ty Baptist Church, alongside 10 other team members. I am thankful that I am part of a church that desires to see our neighbors, the nations, and the next generation come to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. It brings great peace to my heart and mind to experience the great love and support of not only my home church but also family and friends who have come alongside of my fami ly to make this trip possible. Many people will be praying and have already given money so that we can fulfill Jesus’s command for all Christians outlined in Acts 1:8 (But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my wit nesses to Me in Jerusalem, and all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth). If any one knows me, I love local churcli ministry. My wife and I have a heart to reach Madi son County witli the gospel of Jesus Clirist. I thank God that He opens doors in our schools tlirougli school clubs like FCA and Good News Club where the gospel is clearly and faith fully shared. I thank God for the blessing of ministering tlirougli the local churcli on a weekly basis alongside faithful servant leaders. I look forward to opportunities locally and across Nortli America to be on mission in my “Jerusalem” and “Judea.” However, I must be honest witli you and share that international missions to my “Samaria” and “the ends of ^i SPECIAL ^^ CALLED MEETING The City of Comer will have a Special Called Meeting on July 11th at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall. the earth” is hard for me. There are many reasons/excuses I could give as to why it really isn’t necessary for me to go out of the country for missions be cause there is definitely plenty of people right here in Mad ison County that need Clirist that need to hear the gospel. Nevertheless, I have to con stantly remind myself that Acts 1:8 nor the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) allows us freedom to pick and choose who we share Clirist witli (all nations). So, next time your pastor or churcli leader sched ules and promotes a mission trip, don’t just “write it off’ and make excuses as to why you shouldn’t participate. In stead, pray and ask God what He would have you to do for Him and how you will respond witli obedience. I promise, if you truly believe God is call ¬ ing you to sign up for a short- term mission trip or, even still, become a missionary, then He will make a way for this to happen as long as we obey Him. No, it will not always be easy, but if God is calling, shouldn’t we obey? Some of the most joyful and peaceful people I have ever met are Cliristians pursuing the will of God for their lives. But, like me, this may mean we have to get out of comfort zones and listen to that “still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12)” and trust the Holy Spirit to provide once we say ‘yes’ to what God is lead ing us to do for His Kingdom. Tlierefore, don’t be like Jonah. I’m sure it wasn’t too com fortable in the belly of that big fish. “No reserve. No retreat. No regrets” -William Borden, Missionary to Muslim Kansu people in China.
