thankful that I am part of a

Many people will be praying

outlined in Acts 1:8 (But you
shall receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon

the earth” is hard for me. There
are many reasons/excuses I
could give as to why it really
isn’t necessary for me to go out
of the country for missions be
cause there is definitely plenty
of people right here in Mad
ison County that need Clirist
that need to hear the gospel.
Nevertheless, I have to con
stantly remind myself that Acts
1:8 nor the Great Commission
(Matthew 28:18-20) allows us
freedom to pick and choose
who we share Clirist witli (all
nations). So, next time your
pastor or churcli leader sched
ules and promotes a mission
trip, don’t just “write it off’
and make excuses as to why
you shouldn’t participate. In
stead, pray and ask God what
He would have you to do for
Him and how you will respond
witli obedience. I promise, if
you truly believe God is call ¬
ing you to sign up for a short-
term mission trip or, even still,
become a missionary, then
He will make a way for this
to happen as long as we obey
Him. No, it will not always
be easy, but if God is calling,
shouldn’t we obey? Some of
the most joyful and peaceful
people I have ever met are
Cliristians pursuing the will of
God for their lives. But, like
me, this may mean we have to
get out of comfort zones and
listen to that “still, small voice
(1 Kings 19:12)” and trust the
Holy Spirit to provide once we
say ‘yes’ to what God is lead
ing us to do for His Kingdom.
Tlierefore, don’t be like Jonah.
I’m sure it wasn’t too com
fortable in the belly of that big
fish. “No reserve. No retreat.
