IN reply to- the advertisement
of A. S. Rhode’s, the North Ca
rolina gentleman, (as be stiles
himsell), cautioning all persons
against crediting me, on rtis ac
count, or harbot mg me —l think
proper to state a few facts—l’his
gentleman, whom unfortunately,
i was persuaded by interested
persons to marry, arrived here
about two tr irifhs ago destitute,
of money: M clothes, and with
out any apparent means of sup
port ; Such a caution from him
is therefore somewhat ludicrous.
He has sold a quantity of my
cotton and has carried of my sil
ver piate and other articles with
a view I have no doubt to con
vert them into cash ; He has cru~
elly beat and abused me, so that
1 did not conceive my life in
safety by living with him , 1 am
therefore determined to separate
myself from him for life, and I
do hereby for warn all persons
from bargaining with him for any
property belonging to the estate
of Joseph WeLcher, my late
husband, as he lias no right or
authority to dispose of any part
of it.
Instead of the name of Rhodes,
I resume that of.
