Cecil And Danny
Celebrate Holy Union
Recently Metropolitan Community Church of Atlanta,
was the setting for a service of Holy Union. The service
of Holy Union is one of six Rites of the U.F.M.C.C. It is
a service where two people, after both persons have been
counseled and instructed on their responsibilities to each
other, God’s blessing is then bestowed on them by a duly
authorized minister of the church.
After meeting all requirements of the church Cecil
Gray and Danny Woods received the rite of Holy Union.
The service was conducted in full liturgical custom, with
the ministers wearing capes and the candidates dressed
in formal attire. It consisted of five parts. Introduction
and reading of Holy Scriptures, Administration of the
Vows, Service of Holy Communion, Prayer of blessing
and lighting of the Holy Union Candle.
The service was administered by Rev. John Gill (Pas
tor), he was assisted by Rev. Jim Snow (asst. Pastor)
Keith Newton served as acolyte. Mr. Quinton Hudson
(organist) Mr. Charles Karo (soloist), James Daras (Pho
to) Floral arrangements by S.C. Moore and Jerry Proud-
fit, Mr. Hugh Huntley (usher).
Danny and Cecil met three years ago in Los Angeles
in which time Danny was attending the M.C.C. Church
in Los Angeles, he introduced Cecil to the church and
they both then started attending regularly. In July 1973
they both decided to relocate in Tampa, Florida, how
ever the last day on the road they decided to come to At
lanta. After arriving in Atlanta both went to work the
next day with one of the awning companies as an instal
lation team. Since arriving both have become greatly in
volved in the local M.C.C. Church. Danny sings with the
choir and the Gospel Quartet. In view of their love and
dedication the church directors appointed them Co-Build
ing Supervisors in February 1974.
Cecil and Danny both say, their love relationship and
success here in Atlanta is strictly due from the blessing
God has bestowed on them by diverting them here instead
of to Florida and in view of these blessings they wished
to formalize their vows to each other in public through
this Holy Union.

The park has been

know who was playing
soft ball in the park
early in August but the

Many privately or
