LOS ANGELES, Calif.-The Los Angeles Gay Commun
ity Services Center has received local, state and fed
eral grants totaling more than $1 million. A three
year $1 million grant for a Gay Women’s Alcohol
Recovery Program, $130,000 for a mobile VD center
project; $30,000 for treatment of VD and general medi
cal problems; $12,000 grants for alcohol and drug
problems.
GARDEN GROVE, Calif.-United Gays for Equal Treat
ment have begun a boycott of local “Denny’s” Restau
rants for alleged refusal to serve Gays. “Denny’s” is
a California based national 24 Hour restaurant chain.
NEW ORLEANS, LA.-Criminal District Court Judge
Bernard Bagert of New Orleans has declared Louisi
ana’s sodomy laws unconstitutional. Bagert’s decision
is being appealed by the New Orleans D.A.
WASHINGTON, D.C.-President Ford has signed the
4974 Housing and Community Development Act. The
law’s definition of “marital status” will make it il
legal to refuse purchase, rental or financing of housing
on the basis of being married or single.
WASHINGTON, D.C.-D.C. Superior Court Judge David
L. Norman joined two other D.C. judges in ruling that
the D.C. law against sodomy can be constitutionally
consenting adults in private.
