Dr. Scott Westmoreland.
When asked, Matthew Denton
said not only are Dr. Jerome and
Dr. Scott his veterinarians, but they
are also his friends and always will
be. Denton said the two of them
have personally taken time to help
with his livestock projects.
Denton has been showing lambs
for four years and this is his first
year with the hogs. He is looking
forward to many more years of
working with the livestock projects

Gun Dealers Favor Checks'
By VETO F. ROLEY
Staff Writer
Local gun dealers are generally in
favor of the instant check recently
passed by the Georgia State
Legislature.
The instant check measure will
allow gun dealers to instantly check
a person's background through local
law enforcement agencies before a
handgun can be purchased. The check
will be done over the telephone.
The instant check eliminates the
five day waiting period imposed by
the Brady Bill.

Both doctors said they love
working with the children.
The children are the reason we
have projects such as livestock.
We wish more children would get
involved, then we would know
what and where are children are
today," Dr. Bloodworth said.
Mrs. Denton stated, "We could
not ask for a better group of people.
Perry Animal Hospital has always
been there for us. When we have a
problem or just a question, no
matter how big or small, about the
animals all we have to do is pick
up the phone and call. They are
always happy to help."
"A felon can walk in a purchase a
gun by filling in a simple form and
lying on it," said Jerry Whitney,
owner of Perry Pawn Shop. He added
that the new law would prevent that
from happening.
"I think that it (instant check)
will be real good," said Ray
McDaniel, owner of Ray’s Pawn
Shop. "People who are able to have
guns wont have too much trouble
getting them.”
Both Whitney and McDaniel said
that the new law should not affect
the amount of business they did.
Beneficial Information Should Not Be Banned
It’s a pretty scary thing that the
FDA (Food and Drug
Administration) is trying to do to
the health food and vitamin
industry. I just want you to know
how serious this situation is.
In Dec. 1992 the FDA was asked
to evaluate and comment on the
data showing how:
•dietary fiber and
•antioxidants affect cancer, how
•omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil
supplements 0 and
•antioxidants affect heart disease;
and how
•zinc affects the immune system.
These five relationships were
evidence that these supplements
reduce the incidence of these
diseases.
The FDA proposed in a 163-
page document (Federal Register
58: 53254-5317) to ban not only
any health claims for the
supplements, but also books or
scientific articles that attest to their
benefits.
Thus, if you pick up a reprint of
an article in a health food store
showing that vitamin E reduces
heart attack risk by 48 percent, the
FDA views this as "labeling" even
though the article does not mention
a specific product. What's more,
the FDA then could confiscate all

of the store's vitamin E as well as
its vitamin E literature.
You’ve probably heard on the
news all the uproar about amino
acids. Single-dose amino acids rob
the FDA's product "hit list." One
of the main reasons for this
persecution by the FDA is that
single-dose amino acids have many
of the beneficial properties of
prescription drugs, without any
toxicity.
As such, they pose a significant
threat to various segments of the
drug industry.
I found this information in Dr.
Julian Whittaker's Health &
Healing newsletter. He was in
Germany at Christmas and he had
the flu. He said he took the herb
echinacea, zinc lozenges and a Bayer
aspirin/ vitamin C effervescent
combination that has been used by
Germans for decades. He writes,
