Miss Collier is the
granddaughter of the late liffie and
Tommie Collier of Crawford
County and the late Vernell and

THREE RECIPIENTS OF THE ERIC P. STAPLES AWARD Three members of
Mary King's family have received the Eric P. Staples award. They are Randy Murphy,
Debbie Fendley, Mary King and Amber Fendley. The award is for scholastic,
leadership and athletic abilities and accomplishments.

Believed to be a "first", three
members of Mary B. King’s family
have racked up some kind of record.
Two of her chldren and a
granddaughter are honor graduates
and recipients of die coveted Eric P.
Staples award, and all, includig
King, are graduates of Perry High
vSS
of Kentucky with a bachelors
degree in Social work and will
receive a certification for teachers
certificate from Mercer University
in Macon in June.
Mr. Sherwood is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Sherwood of New York and the late
Mr. and Mrs. Ira Thompson of New
York. He graduated from Kings
College in New York and received a
masters degree from United States
Sports Academy in Mobile. Ala
lie is presently employed at Mt
dcSales Academy in Macon.
School.
The award is for scholastic,
leadership and athletic abilities and
accomplishments.
Daughter Debbie M. Fendley is
a 1D72 graduate; son Randy
Murphy is a 1975 graduate;
granddaughter Amber Fendley
(daughter of Debbie M. Fendley).

Michele Brown to marry
Daniel Connell on July 22
Dr. and Mrs. C. Thomas Brown
of Atlanta announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Michele Leigh Brown to Daniel
Christopher Connell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jimmy Daniel Connell.
The wedding is planned for 2:30
pm, July 22, at North Avenue
Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
Miss Brown is the granddaughter
of Mrs. Winton E. Evans and the
late Mr. Evans of Decatur, and the
late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Brown
of Montgomery, Ala. She received

Mary King is a 19.12 graduate, and
is justifiably proud of this unique
record her family has made in Perry
High School.
King said that Eric P. Staples
was principal of Perry High School
when she graduated, and was still
principal when Debbie entered high
school. The school was in the
building now called the Perry
Annex.

Airman Mary A, Harrelson,
daughter of Ronlad and Athelyne
Harrison of Kathleen, recently
completed Air Force basic training
at Lackland Air Force Base here.
The airman earned credits toward
