The Perry High School “Pride

Not only will fans need a program to tell all
the new players at Perry High School this year,
they will also find the program helpful in iden
tifying all the changes in the coaching staff.
For starters, the new head football coach
and athletic d'rector is Houston County native
George Collins. He was a prep standout at
Warner Robins High. After graduating in 1973,
he became an All-America at the University of
Georgia in 1977.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
That seems to be the approach
being taken at Westfield Schools
this year.
The coaching staff is largely
unchanged from last year, a season
which saw the football team make
it to the state semifinal game.
Ronnie Jones is back for his
third year as head footbalFcoach
and athletic director. While he is
pleased with all his team accom
plished on the field. Jones is also
proud of the fact all of his seniors

just a junior. He should see consid
erable action on the offensive line.
Defensive, Perry will need to
replace some key defensive line
men as well as Stripling and Fann.
Also gone are defensive ends Billy
McDanier and Cheronskee

spent several years in professional football. His
coaching resume includes stints at Valdosta
State College, and, more recently, at the
University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
Collins replaces John Stephens, who is now
at Pierce County High.
Other changes involve changes in assign
ments in some areas. The new defensive coor
dinator is Luke Smith, who served as offensive
coordinator last year. That spot is being
manned by Geoff Walters, who comes to PHS

relieved pain problems for him.
Back for his second year as
softball coach is Billy Sellers. He

while last year’s other tackle,

there, the Panther staff has 250-

Also working with the offense is Ed Blount,
who will be working with the line. Blount is

Working with tight ends is veteran coach

Rounding out the offensive side of the ball is

Other defensive assignments include Ed
