the Perry Lions Club, Carl J.
Barrett, member and past presi
dent of the Club, received the
Melvin Jones Fellow award from
Lions Club International
Foundation for “Dedicated
Humanitarian Services Lions
Club International Foundation.”
This is the highest honor given
by Lions Club International to an
individual club member.
Barrett was nominated for this
award by members of the Perry
Lions Club, based partially on the
following:
Barrett came into the Perry
Lions Club in 1953; he had 31

Man in serious condition
after weekend stabbing
From Staff Reports
A 61-year-old is hospital
ized in stable but serious condi
tion after being stabbed in the
chest, according to a Perry
Hospital spokesperson.
Perry Detective Capt. Steve
Heaton said John Tkalcic was
injured after becoming involved
in a domestic dispute with his 66-
year-old ex-wife.
The incident occurred the
evening of Aug. 20 at 904
Godfrey Place where the couple
resided.
“She received minor knife
wounds during the altercation,
also,” said Heaton. “We know
they both got cut in the fight.
We’re still in the process of sort
ing out what happened.”
No charges had been filed at
press time.
In another incident, an employ
ee at a local fast-food restaurant
has reported to police that one of
her co-workers improperly
touched her while on the job.
Pain may be
eliminated
for millions
(SPECIAL)-The Federal Govern
ment has approved a drug that is
exciting researchers in the treat
ment of pain. The material has been
included in the formula for a new
product known as "Arthur Itis™"
and is being called a "Medical
Miracle" by some, in the treatment
of debilitating conditions such as
arthritis, bursitis, rheumatism, pain
ful muscle aches, joint aches, simple
backache, bruises, and more. Al
though the mechanism of action is
unclear, experiments indicate that
Arthur Itis™ relieves pain by first
selectively attracting, and then de
stroying the messenger chemical
which carries pain sensations to the
brain, thus eliminating pain in the
affected area. Arthur Itis™ is an
odorless, greaseless, non-staining
cream and is available immediately
without a prescription and is guar
anteed to work. U*e only at directed.

“The Melvin Jones Fellowship

largely due to the growth of the fel

needs in communities worldwide.
In many cases these needs are
reflected in the eyes of disadvan
taged children, or perhaps made
apparent by a common sense of
hopelessness shared by the elderly
whose community has been unable
Heaton said an investigation
into that is under way.
And, Houston County authori

alleged rape.
