Hill, Blaydes united in
Atlanta marriage vows
Martha Jane Hill and Timothy
Gerard Blaydes were married July
1, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Atlanta. A lun
cheon reception followed the cere
mony at the Georgia Plaza Park.
• The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Hill of Perry. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Blaydes of Cairo. The
Rev. Donald Baribeau of Atlanta
presided over the ceremony.
Attendants were: Matron of
honor, Sheri Clark, cousin of
bride, from Oxford, Ala.; brides
maids Andrea Turner, cousin of
bride, from Tuscaloosa, Ala.;
Michelle Screws, cousin of bride,
from Gadsden, Ala.; and Carole
Galanty, friend of bride, from
Atlanta.
Flower girls were: Kathryn
Kaiser, niece of groom, from
Atlanta; Lee Anne Bowers, niece
of groom from Orlando, Fla.;
Emily Sarvis, niece of bride, from
West Sand Lake, N.Y.; and Tiffany
Clark, cousin of the bride, from
Oxford, Ala..
Groomsmen, ushers, and ring
bearer: Best Man, Thomas
Blaydes, father of groom; Peter
Blaydes, brother of groom, of
Nashville, Tenn.; Daniel Blaydes,
brother of groom, of Chattanooga,
Tenn.; Luke Shulte, friend of the
groom, of Atlanta, and Marcus
Hill, brother of the bride, of West
Sand Lake, N.Y. Richard Kaiser,
nephew of the groom, of Roswell,
was the ringbearer.
Soloists Samuel Hagan of
Atlanta sang “How Great Thou
Art”, “Ave Maria,” and “The
Lord’s Prayer.” Trumpet player
Yvonne Toll accompanied organist
William Krape, both of Atlanta, on
the processional “The Prince of
Denmark” by Clarke and the
recessional “Hornpipe,” by
Handel.
The bride was escorted by her

Violence seminar offered

Members of the Houston
Family Violence Prevention
Council and the Georgia Council
on Abused Women will host a
two-session training seminar Sept.
29.
This first session will be titled
“Family Violence, A Spiritual
Issue” and will be presented by
Amy Morton, MSW. The second
session will be presented by Vee
Breedlove, MSW and is titled
“Broken Hearts, Children of

sages from the Bible, from the
books Genesis and Colossians.
Laurie Hill, sister-in-law of the
bride, led the prayer of the faithful.
It was a double-ring ceremony,
followed by lighting of the unity
candle.
The bride wore a traditional
white dress, hand-beaded by her
mother, with a cathedral train and
sweetheart neckline. Her veil was
also cathedral length, and it was
designed and handsewn by her sis
ter-in-law, Laurie Hill.
The bride carried a bouquet of
fresh Oceania roses, white orchids,
and ivy. The bride wore the garter
her betrothed caught at the wed
ding of her brother, Marcus Hill,
last July.
A buffet luncheon was served to
the 150 guests. The wedding cake
was a three-tier white pound cake
with raspberry filling, covered
with white chocolate frosting in a
basket weave. It was topped by a
mixture of fresh flowers. The cake
was made by a friend of the bride,
Cindy Bowden, of Stone
Mountain.
The groom’s cake was a white
pound cake, decorated and shaped
like a Georgia Tech yellow jacket.
Servers were Sharon Kirkes,
Donna Jemigan. and Mary Jane
Cooper, friends of the bride. The
couple danced their first dance to a
waltz “Can I have this dance for
the rest of my life,” recorded by
Anne Murray. This was followed
by a father/daughter, mother/son
dedicated dance to “Wind Beneath
My Wings,” recorded by Bette
Midler.
The couple also dedicated a
special dance to the bridal party,
“Love will keep us alive,” record
ed by the Eagles.
After a honeymoon trip to
Cancun, the couple lives in
Marietta.

8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Trinity United
Methodist Church in the Family
Life Center at 129 S. Houston
Road. Warner Robins.

session or $5 the day of the semi

Williford, Veer set vows
The Rev. and Mrs. Allan B. Veer
of Loerrach, Germany announce
the forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Melanie Michelle Veer, to
William Demory Williford. He is
the son of Mr. and mrs. William H.
Williford of Perry.
The bride-to-be is the grand
daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Hildor E.
Janz of Loerrach, Germany. She
attended Oral Roberts University in
Tulsa, Okla., where she studied
music. She plans to attend Rhema
Bible Training Center in Tulsa nexf
year.
The groom-to-be is the grandson
of Mr. and Mrs. Ryland T. Dodge of
Locust Grove, Va. He is a 1995
graduate of Oral Roberts
University with a degree in interna
tional business. He plans to attend
Rhema Bible Training Center in
Tulsa in the fall of 1996.

POW/MIA Recognition Day
will be observed Sept. 15 at 11
a.m. at Hangar One of the
Museum of Aviation at Robins Air
Force Base.
According to base spokesman
Dale Brinkman, Georgia Secretary
of State Max Cleland will be the
speaker. Cleland is a Vietnam vet
eran and former head of the U.S.
Veteran’s Administration.
Special guests will be former
prisoners of war and their families

“This is simply a day to rejoice
that the former prisoners of war are
home and to always remember the
missing in action families who may
never know what happened to their
loved ones,” said Louise Pacheco,
co-chairman of the POW/MIA
Recognition Day committee.
Cleland “is an inspiration just
to listen to,” said Lt. Col. William
Allen, 78th Support Group deputy
commander.
