ATLANTA The Council of
Superior Court Judges of Georgia
named Judge George F. Nunn Jr.,
Houston Judicial Circuit, Perry,
secretary-treasurer for 1995-96
during the council’s annual meet
ing on July 31 at St. Simons
Island.
Also elected were Judge H.
Arthur McLane, Southern Judicial
Circuit, Valdosta, president, and
Judge John E. Girardeau,
Northeastern Judicial Circuit,
Gainesville, president-elect.
Nunn was appointed to the
superior court bench June 3, 1986
by Gov. Joe Frank Harris and was
subsequently elected. Prior to his
appointment, he served as a mem
ber of the Perry City Council from
1977-1985 and judge of the
Municipal Court of Perry.
Nunn earned his undergraduate
degree from Emory College in
1966 and received his Juris
Doctor degree from Emory
University School of Law in 1969.
He practiced law in Atlanta and

the Peachtree Conference Center
in Peachtree City, Aug. 9-11, to
develop and improve teaching
skills in math and science.

grant from the Knight Foundation
and sponsored by Mercer
University and the Houston
Modeling class
to be offered
Special to the Times-Journal
Young ladies ages 11-18 can
sign up for a modeling and social
skills seminar to be offered by the
Perry Recreation Department.
The class will be offered each
Saturday from 2:15-4:15 p.m.
from Sept. 23-Dec. 2. Sessions
will be at the Perry Community
Center at J. Frank Rozar Park,
1060 Keith Drive.
Terry Wilson will instruct the
class which will include goals
such as introducing the partici
pants to modeling, fitness and
conditioning, developing self con
fidence and wardrobe planning.
Emphasis will be placed on
voice improvement, nutrition,
commercial acting and photo
modeling.

A native of Perry, Nunn is a
member of the Kiwanis Club and
the Perry United Methodist
Church, where he teaches Sunday
school. He and his wife, Janet,
have two children, Jennifer and
Christopher, who attend Emory
University.
The Council of Superior Court
Judges is composed of the state’s
superior court judges and senior
(retired) superior court judges. It
was established by the state legis
lature in 1985 to further the
improvement of the superior
courts and the administration of
justice in Georgia.
The council seeks to identify
and propose solutions to problems
common to all judges and has
recently adopted strategic plan
ning to identify effective and effi
cient operational goals. Duties of
the council include the adoption
of uniform court rules, preparation
of pattern jury instructions and
benchbooks and appointments to
the Sentence Review Panel.

Old-Old-Timers luncheon set
at Robins Air Force Base
At 1 p.m., Sept. 14, the “Old-
Old Timers” from Robins Air
Force Base will gather at the offi
cers club. “Old, Old Timers” are
those personnel who worked at
RAFB prior to 1950.
Reservations are required. Cost
is $5 which can be paid at the
door. Call Jack Braucht at 922-
5912 if you plan to attend. Those
attending are requested to bring a
little of their history at the Base,
old pictures and other memorabil
ia to share.
If you have never attended one
of these gatherings, your name
probably isn’t on Jack Braucht’s
list to receive invitations. Give

to join in this nostalgic gathering
of the pioneers of RAFB.
