Newspaper Page TextAndrew named acting director of C&VB By EMILY JOHNSTONE Times-Journal Staff Jenny Andrew has been named acting executive director of the Perry Area Convention and Visitors Bureau while C&VB board members search for someone to fill the shoes of former director Bob Hendrix. Hendrix resigned in early November in a surprise move that the reasons for still remain unclear. Board member attorney Tom Daniel said as far as he knows no one has heard from Hendrix since his resignation. Andrew has served in one capacity or another at the facility for the past two years. Her most recent role was administrative assistant. "I have not applied for the director's job, so I look to going back to that position," she said. C&VB chairman Walter Lewis said the director's position is being advertised at the present time. Basketball... ""I hate to speculate on that. We will just try to find the best person possible." Lewis said the board will be seeking "someone who will suit the needs for tourism and will promote tourism for Perry." Some 15 or 20 applications for the job has been received, according to the chairman. Lewis stated that Hendrix's departure has not affected the upcoming Family Motorcoach Association's plans to hold their national rally in Perry during March. Hendrix worked with the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter to bring the event to town. "It is still business as usual... our day to day operations are going on as before when we had a director. We are doing just fine," said Lewis.
