engagement of their daughter.
Crystal Wylene Borders, to
Marcus Paul Waddell, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Buford Waddell of
Americus.
The wedding is scheduled for
June 22, 1996 at 3 p.m. at First
United Methodist Church in
Americus.
Maternal grandparents for the
bride-elect are Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Owens of Unadilla.
Paternal grandparents are the late
Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Borders
of Huntingon, W. Va.
She is a graduate of Fullington
Academy, where she was valedic
torian, and is a June 1996 candi
date for graduation from Georgia
Southwestern with a bachelor of
business administration. She is a
member of Kappa Delta Sorority,
president of the Student

Two Perryans named to ABAC Dean’s List
From Staff and Community Reports
A total of 131 students were named to the winter
quarter Dean’s List at Abraham Baldwin College.
Nealie A. Evans and Janice G. Williams, both of
Perry, attained this honor.
Students of the Dean’s List must have a minimum
grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and have
carried at least 15 hours of academic work.

Mercer University has named Perry residents
Stephanie Dianne Green and Michelle Renee Moyer
to the winter quarter President’s List at Mercer’s
School of Engineering. Inclusion to the President’s
List requires that a student earn a 4.0 GPA while tak
ing at least 12 hours of coursework.

Thirty-two students from around the nation have
been chosen to participate in the fourth annual session
of the Kennedy Center’s ballet training program
“Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell.”
Among those are Perryan Heather Toliver.
The three-week residency will be held at the
Kennedy Center Aug. 5-24.
“Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell” became a
national program in 1995 offering full-time, intensive
course of ballet and pointe classes for dancers ages 14
to 18 with at least five years of ballet training, and
with four years on pointe for females.
Stoffell, Peavy exchange vows at Perry First Baptist Church
Holly Rosanna Stoffell and
Raymond Dennis Peavy were
married on April 20, 1996 at the
First Baptist Church in Perry
with the Rev. James E. Shipley
officiating.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stoffell of
Fort Valley.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Emmett Peavy of
Perry.
Music for the ceremony was
provided by Marilyn Hooten and
Tammy Conner.
The bridal gown was ivory
silk, full-skirted with a cathedral
train. The bodice was adorned
with irridescent sequins, pearls,
and seed pearls. It had an open
neckline and was off the shoul
der. The sleeves wrapped around
the arms and was also adorned
with sequins and pearls. There
was a silk bow on the back of the
dress at the waist line which also
had sequins and pearls on it.
The bouquet was made of
fresh flowers. It was off-white

ment of their daughter, Doris
Elizabeth, to David Gordon
Strong, son of the Rev. and Mrs.
Gordon Strong of Painted Post,
N.Y.
The bride-elect is a graduate of
Westfield Academy in Perry. She
received a bachelor’s degree in
mathematic education from Berry
College and a master’s degree in
applied mathematics from North
Carolina State University. She has
taught high school mathematics
and computer science in
Gainesville and Raleigh, N.C. She
is presently teaching mathematics
and Bible at Dalat School in
Penang, Maylasia.
The groom-elect was bom in
Zamboango City, Phillipines to
Green completes family violence training

FORSYTH Patrolman
Abner E. Green Jr. with the Perry
Police Department has completed
a course in Family Violence taught
at the Georgia Public Safety
Training Center here.
Patrolmen Wayne Hall and
Douglas R. Mayo have completed
Presbyterian College has named four rising seniors
from The Westfield Schools as PC Junior Fellows in
recognition of superior academic merit.
Among those are Jonathan Russell Dean, Michael
Benjamin Hulbert, Rosemary Mathias and Mary
Katherine Walker of Perry.
Students are nominated by their high school for
this prestigious award which recognizes young men
and women for exceptional classroom performance.
The honor carries a citation, a SSOO yearly scholar
ship grant to attend Presbyterian College and special
consideration for other financial awards.

Mercer University has named Sean Christy of
Perry to the Winter Quarter President’s List at
Mercer’s School of Business and Economics.
Inclusion to the President’s List requires that a stu
dents earn a 4.0 GPA while taking at least 12 hours or
coursework.

Brewton-Parker College Dan’s List for Winter
Quarter.
Among those was Buster Enoch Davis of Perry.
To be eligible for inclusion, a student must be
enrolled in 14 or more quarter hours and have earned
a grade point average of 3.6 or higher out of a possi
ble 4.0.

The rehearsal dinner took
place at the New Perry Hotel
and was hosted by Mr. and Mrs.
Emmett Peavy.
After a wedding trip to
Cancun, Mexico, the couple will
reside in Perry.

mater’s degree from Eastern
College in Pennsylvania in the

is now serving with the Christian
and Missionary Alliance in
Cambodia as director of a medical
relief project.
