Seniors earn more than a half-million dollars in scholarships y school ojficials say

Perry High School students
were honored during Honors Day
ceremonies May 16.
According to school officials,
more than a half-million dollars
in scholarships were presented
during the Honors Day activities.
Awards presented and recipi
ents were Principal’s Leadership

James Roy Ethridge
KATHLEEN Services for
James Roy Ethridge, 73, who died
May 22, 1996, were held May 25
at Macon Memorial Park.
Bom in Jones County, he was a
retired cattle farmer. He was a
World War II Army Veteran and
the owner of Melody Music Shop
in Warner Robins. He was a mem
ber of Kathleen Baptist Church.
Fort Hawkins Lodge No. 418
F&AM and the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife,
Gloria A. Ethridge; children,
Jimmy Ethridge Jr. of Kathleen,
Jack Ethridge of Kailua, Hawaii
and Gloria J. Ethridge and Jerry
Ethridge, both of Warner Robins;
brothers and sisters, Riley
Ethridge of Macon, Joe Ethridge
of Lizella, Beatrice Curless of
Browning, 111., and Mary Gay of
Lake Sinclair; and four grandchil
dren.

William T. Ellis
BONAIRE Services for
William Terry Ellis, 58, who died
May 24, 1996, were held May 25
at Christopher-Smith Funeral
Home with burial in Bonaire City
Cemetery.
He was the son of the late
Jessie and Sallie Ellis. Bom in
Statesboro, he lived in Bonaire for
the past 29 years. He was retired
from the Buyers Guide , where he
was the circulation manager. He
was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was associated with the
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witness.
Survivors include his wife,
Glennis F. Ellis; children, William
L. Ellis of Perry, Clinton D. Ellis,
Misty L. Ellis, and Clyde E. Ellis,
all of Bonaire, and Timothy E.
Ellis of Warner Robins; brothers
and sisters, Jessie E. Ellis. Renter
W. Willis, Margaret Tankersley,
Claudie B. Ellis, Shirley Ellis,
Edith Waters, all of Statesboro,
and Rosie L. Durham of Atlanta;
and eight grandchildren.

Services for Mose Stembridge,
who died May 24, 1996, were held
May 29, 1996, at New Hope
Baptist Church with burial in Rest
Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis
Harden officiated.
A native of Crawford County,
he was the son of the late Willie
and Emma Ross Stembridge, a
member of New Hope Baptist
Church and a retiree from
Houston County Child
Development Center.
Survivors include his wife,
Edna Stembridge of Perry; chil
dren, Lelia Mae Felton and Shelly
Stembridge, both of Perry; Louise
Culler of Warner Robins. Helen
Singletary of Milledgeville; broth
er, James O’Neal of Bell Glade,
Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 22
great-grandchildren.

Services for Myra Deen
Conner, 90, who died May .26,
1996, were held May 29, 1996, at
the chapel of Swain Funeral Home
with the Rev. Ed Deen and Dr.
James Dant officiating. Burial was
in Ten Mile Baptist Church
Cemetery.
