WORKMEN CONTINUE ASSEMBLING NEW MIDDLE GEORGIA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE CLASSROOM BUILDING
New Campus Will Be Occupied After Jan. 1, According To President Billy Edenfield
Work continues on new MGT campus near Ga. 96
By Jj JOHNSON
Times-Journal Editor
WARNER ROBINS A new
campus capable of housing up to
twice the number of students
enrolled at Middle Georgia
Technical Institute should be
ready for occupancy by 1997.
MGT President Billy Edenfield
said this week that school officials
hope to move programs to the
school beginning in late
December or early January.
Edenfield said moving to the
new, 80-plus acre campus off
Georgia 96 near the Houston Lake
Road intersection will take most
of the winter quarter.
“We’ll gain a lot of room and
classroom space in the move. "
Edenfield said.
The present campus, located at
1113 Corder Road in Warner
Robins, is filled with about 1,200
active throughout the community
in churches, businesses and clubs.
Jimmy Harrell was the first
chairman of the program which
was started in 1983. A youth leader
ship program will begin next year.
Other Chamber plans include
the Wonderland in Lights
Illumination Celebration during
December; the billboard project of
the Education Committee which

last year. The new campus is
designed to accommodate up to
2,500 students in diploma pro

potential enrollment.
“This campus is designed to
serve our needs for many years.
There’s plenty of room to expand
if it is needed,” Edenfield said.
The campus is being paid for
by a grant from the Georgia
General Assembly. Edenfield
praised local legislators for secur

which began almost two years
