Suicide prevention workshop on tap at Andrew Methodist Church

shop Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. The work
shop is entitled, “Suicide
Prevention” and will be taught by
Rochelle Smith. The church is
located in Kathleen along Ga. 127
between Houston Lake and

members begins Sept. 8

the 1996-97 year with a swim
party at Ochlahatchee Pool on
Frank Satterfield Road, Sept. 4.
3:30-5:30 p.m. Pizza will be
served and a certified lifeguard

come. Thunderstorms will cancel
the party.

Church of Warner Robins will
host a Family Convocation Sept.
14, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Theme of the all-dav workshop
is “In Christ the Family Matters:
The Church is in the Relationship
Business.”
Workshop leader is the Rev.
Dr. David Ludwig, Professor at
Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory,
N.C. Nationally recognized for
his work on the family, he is the
author of both the book and video
series, Renewing the Family
Spirit: the book. The Spirit of
Your Marriage; and a new video
course. Living with Purpose.
Besides the major presenta
tions by the workshop leader and
the discussion of those materials,
10 specialty sessions will be
offered. Each participant will be
able to attend one.
Through a substantial grant
from the East Central Georgia
Circuit of the Lutheran Church -
Missouri Synod, cost from the
workshop is $5, which includes
the noon luncheon.
According to the Rev. Gerhard
C. Michael, Jr., pastor at Mount
Calvary, “The congregation is
pleased to offer this workshop to
the community because it is con
vinced the Christian faith offers
us the best resources for building
better families.”

Crossroads Methodist
Lay Witness Mission will be
held at Crossroads United
Methodist Church Oct. 4-6.

will meet Sept. 26 at noon. Meal

trip to the telephone museum at
Leslie on Sept. 12 and will leave
from the church at 9:30 a.m. A
stop will be made at the Windsor
Hotel in Americus. There will be a
sign-up sheet in the narthex for
those who want to go on the trip.

observe a Grandparents’ Day with
a celebration program lieu of
evening service on Sept. 8 at 5.
p.m. Light refreshments will be
served. First Love Ministries, led
by Charlie Walker, will bring the
program for the evening. A sign
up sheet will be posted in the
narthex for those who would like
to help furnish the refreshments
for the evening.

has decided to step down. The
choir will reconvene as soon as a
new director is found. Fisher has
spent 17 months in choir leader
ship.

chase two new vans The goal will
be an aggressive $45,000. about
$15,000 more than offerings in
recent years. The church needs to
