Citizenship Day part of Constitution
Sept. 17 was “Citizenship Day"
and the beginning of
“Constitution Week” which is
Sept., 17-23. Perry Mayor Jim
Worrall, designating the week as
“Constitution Week.” issued a
proclamation.
Members of the Gen. Daniel
Stewart Chapter of the Daughters of
the American Revolution, sponsoi
Constitution Week each year, and
request that each citizen become
familiar with the contents of the
Constitution of the United States.

“See You at the Pole” will be
led at 7:30 a.m., Sept. 18, by the
Perry High School Prayer Club,
with sponsors Bobby Nix and
Charlie Walker.

Owners of the Perry Book Store
will host an autograph tea from 2 -
4 p.m., Oct. 5, for native Perry
author Henry Haugabrook Carter.
Her book is “Mother Wit,” and tells
the things she learned from her
mother while growing up in Perry.
The book includes advice she
believes every child should know.
She hopes to place the books in
correctional institutions because,
she believes, the inmates never
really learned these words of wis
dom from their mothers.

assist.

The American Legion Ladies
Auxiliary Post 24 membership
will resume monthly meetings and
luncheon on Sept. 19. 11:45 a.m.,
at the New Perry Hotel. The orga
nization welcomes new members.

“Rumors” Oct. 18-19, 23-26 at 8

Chapter, United Daughters of the
Confederacy members will hold a
tea from 3-5 p.m.. Sept. 25, at the
Perry Country Club, in celebration
of the chapter’s 75th anniversary.
Mrs. Edward Lusk is chapter pres
ident; Mrs. Florence Harrison is
the incoming president for the
1996-97 year.

Warner Robins Little Theatre
will hold auditions for The
Cocktail Hour, a comedy about
family relationships., at the
Playhouse, 582 S. Pleasant Hill
Road, in Warner Robins on Sept.
30 and Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
Play dates are Nov. 14-17 and
20-23. Actors include one mature
gentleman, one mature lady,
young woman, mid-twenties to
mid-thirties and young man, mid
twenties to mid-thirties.

William and Cora Durham of Perry will celebrate their 54th
wedding anniversary. The couple was married on Sept. 18,
1942 in Perry. Mr. Durham is a retired worker of Medusa
Cement Co. and Mrs. Durham retired from Warner Robins Air
Force Base. There will be a celebration and dinner given in
their honor on Sept. 21 at their home at 1113 Oakdale Ave. All
family and friends are invited to attend. The celebration,
named “What God Has Joined Together Let No Man Put
Asunder", is being hosted by her family and a special
daughter-in-law.
