Justice Department decision puts hold on
Lockheed Martin - Grumman merger

Those new signs which spell out the name
Lnckheed-Marlin around the Perry Northrop
Grumman plant will he removed before they are
officially uncovered, according to Northrop
(irumman spokesman Georgia Engle
That should he the only changes taking place since
the recent announcement from the Department ot
Justice stating that department is 'fundamentally
opposed to the proposed combination" between
Northrop Grumman and Lockhecd-Martin, Engle
added
Company shareholders were agreeable to the pro
posed merger and plans were being made to bring
that about when the Justice announcement put that
proposal on hold
Both companies have agreed not to close the
transaction before their projected date ot April 24
Detention Center to be finished in one year
Facility will house nearly 200 low-security detainees

accidents in Houston County
during February These accidents
resulted in five injuries and no
deaths

Two top officials, Vance Coffman with Lockheed-
Martm. and Kent Kresa with Northrop Grumman,
said in a |oint statement that. "It the companies'
attempts to resolve the Justice's concerns are not suc
cessful. it is anticipate the government will move to
block the transaction."
Northrop Grumman also recently announced the
company has signed an agreement with The Boeing
Co. to produce two additional passenger doors lor the
747 jetliner
This agreement is an addition to Northrop
Grumman's previous contract tor 28 aircraft doors
The Aircraft Door Center located at the Perry
plant currently produces doors lor the 737. 747. 757
and 767
This award will bring the number ol pressurized
doors produced at the Perry plant to 39. according to
company officials
with several state representatives

tnends and family came or called to see how Preacher was doing So many tame to
the house and sat tor a tew minutes, or even hours some came once, many came
every day and so many called, we were unable to log the calls
As soon as we would hang up the phone, it would nng again When Preacher went
to the hospital, so many calledd and came by It was very uplifting to Preacher when
he saw old tnends and old co-workers
