Mr Bennett, a native of Albany had
lived in Dublin for several soars lie was
preceded in death by a brother. Bruce
Bennett, and his parents. Mr. and Mis.
William Bennett.
He was an Army veteran and a retired
iron worker.
He is survived by two sons. Ronnie M.
Bennett of Snetlville. and James Bennett
Jr. of Atlanta; six daughters. Brandy
Bennett of Atlanta and Bruce Bennett.
Diane Bennett, Debra Clements. Judy
Williams and Tina Long, all of Macon;
one sister. Martha Ann Sims of Daytona
Beach, Fla., five grandchildren and one

through Chamber of Commerce program

Members ol the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce
are sponsoring the Youth Leadership Program for the
second year said Linda Easterly Director of Nursing
at Perry Hospital and Committee Chairperson for the
Chamber Youth Leadership Program.
Members of the Wamer-Robins Area Chamber of
Commerce have joined forces with the Perry
Chamber this year after witnessing the success of the
Youth Leadership Program sponsored by the Perry
Chamber last year.
The youth Leadership Perry Selection Committee
sought representation for the program from students
who actively participated in education, the arts, reli
gion, government, community based organizations,
ethnic and minority groups.
Entry in the Youth Leadership Program was avail
able to high school junior students from Perry,
Houston County and Westfield high schools during
its fledgling year and 19 students were accepted into
the program.
This year applications for the program came from
all five Houston county high schools and 39 students
were chosen for appointment.
The program began this year with an introductory
day held during September at the Houston Lake
Country Club. Easterly said this program gave the
participants a chance to get to know each other.
Six individual days are devoted to educating the
program participants in Industry. Health and Human
Services, City and County Government, Legislation,
Team Building and Robins Air Force Base.
During the Industry day students.learn about the
Cattle show at Agricenter Nov. 20-22

soring the Nutrena Feed/Georgia Farm Credit Associations Ring
Master Extravagan/.a cattle show at the Georgia National Fairgrounds
and Agricenter in Perry Nov 20-22 said Jamie M. Lisanby South
Central Farm Credit Loan Assistant 111.
The cattle show formerly called the Welcome Center Roundup is
open to FFA and 4-H students, ages 9-19 and has 300 entries from
Florida. Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina.
The event will be judged by Scott Schaake, Judging Team Coach at
Kansas State University in Manhattan Kansas.

Born in Waskom, Texas, Mrs.
Lorenzen. had lived in Perry tor the past
six years. She moved to the community
from Colorado Springs, Col.

During the Legislative day participants meet with
local politicians such as Larry Walker and Pam
Bohannon to discuss and leam about politics.
During the Ropes Course held at the Phoenix
Center students learn how to work together as a team.
During the Robins Air Force Base day students
leam about The Command Center, The National
Guard. The J-Stars, and the Civilian Department of
Defense personnel and how they function.
Easterly said the students are also taken to the
Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base to gain
a perspective on some of the advancements and tech
nology available to the military today.
Last year members of the Perry Chamber of
Commerce held the Youth Leadership Program grad
uation ceremony in the Perry Board of Education
Building, however the location of the graduation cer
emony this year has not yet been chosen.

She was a member of the Perry United
Methodist Church and the Howell Cobb
Sunday School Class. She was the widow
of Larry Lorenzen.
Survivors include two daughters,
Frances C. Pieczara of Long Branch, N.J.,
and Sandra K. Sardella of Denver, Col.;
and her sister, Francis Bagley of Oil City,
La.

Dr. Charles W. Davis and Dr. Robert A. Bartosh, orthopaedic surgeons,
have joined the medical staff of Peach Regional Medical Center in Fort
Valley. They will see patients every Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon,
from 1:00 - 5:00. Patients are encouraged to call the hospital at 825-

Dr. Davis is board certified as an orthopaedic surgeon. He received his
undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona. His medical
degree is from the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Bartosh received his undergraduate degree from Southeastern
Louisiana University; his medical degree is from Louisiana State Univer
sity Medical Center, School of Medicine. He is board certified.

A native of Camilla, Mr. Blackstonc
had lived in Houston County for 40 years.
He was a Marine Corp veteran, serving
during the Korean Conflict. He was a
retired petroleum quality inspector at
Robins Air Force Base, a member of
AARP and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Frances
Paul Blackstone of Kathleen; two daugh
ters, Wanda Blackstone of Kathleen and
Daphcnc Rogers of Pine Mountain; one
son. Mike Maddox of Hiram; three sisters,
Anne Sinyard and Louvcncia Plair, both
of Grovania, and Delores Hall of
Fernandina Beach, Fla.; one brother,
Richard L. Blackstonc of Perry; three
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Majorie Kersey
Marjorie Kersey, 74. of 645 Ga 96,
Bonaire, died Nov. 14 at her home.
Services were at I p.m. Nov. 16 at
Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Keith
Bickford officiating.
A native of Monticello, Mrs. Kersey
had lived in Houston County most of her
life. She was a homemaker and a
Primitive Baptist. She was the widow of
Charles Luther Kersey Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, (
Charlene K. Kersey of Dunwoody; two
sons. Dale Kersey and Don Kersey, both
of Bonaire; four sisters. Carolyn Gilbert of
Macon, and Joyce Melville. Evelyn Jones
and Sara Jones, all of Covington; two
brothers, Douglas Cunard of Americus
and Charles Cunard of Midland, Texas;
and four grandchildren.
