Illuminate the season Perryans celebrate Christmas with 22nd annual Christmas at the Crossroads holiday activities By rob mead TlMia-JoU«NAL Staff The annual Christmas at the Crossroads event sponsored by the members of the Perry Chamber of Commerce is about to stan its 22nd season here in Perry Dec 4. The Honorable James O. McKinley Esquire Mayor of the City of Perry in 1976 was so pleased with the "old fashioned" observance of Christmas in Perry during the J 975 year, that he with consent from members of the Town Council and the "hearty urging of Ministers and Town leaders" proclaimed Christmas at the Crossroads an annual event The Illumination Celebration was included with the Christmas at the Crossroads events by Jim Geiger President of the Chamber of Commerce four years ago after observing a light display on the Agricenter grounds. "We wanted to do something in the City to match" said Chris Kinnas President of the Chamber of Commerce. These merchants welcome visitors to downtown Perry to see the attractive dec torations, and to inspect the merchandise they hare ready tor gift-giving this year.
