City Barber Shop relocates across
Carroll Street from historic home
By ROB MEAD
Just as the days of a haircut
and a shave for a quarter have
disappeared, so has the City
Barber Shop disappeared from
it’s long-time location at 916
Just in case you missed it,
City Barber Shop owner Jack
West recently relocated the
business across the street to 911
Carroll St. The barber shop had
been at the former address since
the 19205, West said.
West, whose career in
Barbering began during a four
year enlistment in the U.S.
Navy, said he has cut hair at the
916 Carroll St. address since his
enlistment ended in 1955.
The new location is not the
only thing to change at the City
Barber Shop. Mickey McLain,
long time area barber, has
joined West cutting hair at the
City Barber Shop.
“Mickey started here the
13th of April and we are proud
to have him” said West.
McLain is a graduate of the
Orlando Barber College in
Orlando Fla and has been cut
ting hair for 30 years.
McLain specializes in all
types of hair cuts according to
Prior to working at the City
Barber shop McLain per
formed hair cutting services in
the Barber Shop of the Officers
Club at Robins Air Force Base
according to West.
