Perry Middle seventh graders split pair of baseball games

Perry’s 7th grade baseball team
split a pair last week as they picked
up a big win against Rumble and
fell in a heartbreaker to Northside
Middle.

The Westfield Hornets track
teams will be busy this week
preparing for the state qualifiers on
May 1.
The Hornets took five first place
finishes in a recent regular season
meet at Stratford on April 21 with
Jared Shell leading the way with
first place in both the 100 m and the
200 m runs, and running the first
leg of the winning 4xloo relay.

Junior League 11-12 boys

After the first 10 games,
Tolleson Supply is in first place in
the Perry Junior League baseball
standings with a 3-1 record.
The pitchers with the best
records are Michael Deibert of
Tolleson and Daniel Peake of
MMM, CPA. Both have 2-0
records.
Kivvanis pitcher Shane Ashley is
leading the league in strikeouts
with 21 in 12 innings pitched.

12-3. Pitcher Jai Bowens got the
win. Bowens pitched seven innings
and had 12 strikeouts giving up
only one earned run on two hits.
Panther David Lewis had a big
game going 4 for 5 with two home
tuns against the Imps.
Stephen Kinnas was 2 for 2 with
Will Sexton placed first in the
high jump while Tate Parker won
the long jump and also ran the
anchor leg on the 4xloo relay
team.
Relay team member Jacob
Walker was third in the pole vault,
while Parker came in second in the
triple jump.
Emily Bennett came in third in
the girls’ shot put and Laura Posey
was third in the girls' triple jump.
The state qualifiers will be held
allowed only 2 hits with 8 strike
outs. Josh O'Cain, Baxter pitcher,
allowed only 3 hits with 8 strike
outs.

The state meet, for the top four
finishers in each event during the
qualifiers, will be held on May 7
and 8 at Hugh Mills Stadium in
Albany.

earned a shot at qualifying in the

will also participate in four events,
the pole vault, 200 m dash and
both relay races.
Will Sexton qualified in the
high jump, the 100 m and 300 m
hurdles, while Bo Hart was a
member of the 4x400 relay team.
Larry Bennett is coach of the
boys team, while Leigh Ann
Johnson handles the duties for the
girls team.
