Perry Middle seventh graders split pair of baseball games By ALLINE KENT foUTHE Times-lournai. Perry’s 7th grade baseball team split a pair last week as they picked up a big win against Rumble and fell in a heartbreaker to Northside Middle. In the Rumble game, Perry won Hornets prepare for track qualifiers clar^ By PHIL CLARK The Westfield Hornets track teams will be busy this week preparing for the state qualifiers on May 1. The Hornets took five first place finishes in a recent regular season meet at Stratford on April 21 with Jared Shell leading the way with first place in both the 100 m and the 200 m runs, and running the first leg of the winning 4xloo relay. Tolleson Supply leads Perry Junior League 11-12 boys Special to the Times-lournal After the first 10 games, Tolleson Supply is in first place in the Perry Junior League baseball standings with a 3-1 record. The pitchers with the best records are Michael Deibert of Tolleson and Daniel Peake of MMM, CPA. Both have 2-0 records. Kivvanis pitcher Shane Ashley is leading the league in strikeouts with 21 in 12 innings pitched. Jordy Stokes with Alltel is lead ing the home run race with three home runs including one grand slam. The state meet, for the top four finishers in each event during the qualifiers, will be held on May 7 and 8 at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.
