quartet Vue (forme, ty known
as The Audience) draws the
dark, emotional intensity of
the Birthday Party, The
Stooges, Spacemen 3 and The
Fall and all the mysterious
garage-rock gems of the past
that influenced those bands as well. The band members—bassist Jeremy Andrew Bringetto, gui
tarist Jonah Buffa, drummer Rex John Shelverton and vocalist-keyboardist Jessica Ann Graves-
concocted some strange, fevered, flailing rock sounds on a new self-titled album on Sub Pop
Records earlier this year. The album is slinky, dark and almost destructive in nature. The band
describes it as 'the urgent sound of high-energy rock and roll; sexy and chaotic in its search for
the ultimate groove... the sound of yoting souls.*
Athens' own Flash To Bang Time—an unusual and dexterous avant-pop group comprised of
former members of Hetch Hetchy and Mystery Date, The last time this band played, some people
in the audience were spotted swooning with cans of beer in hand! Also performing is, The
Marble Index, an Athens pop project conducted by Gordon Lamb. (BL)
