LOST & FOUNDRY You cari spit in the Nile, but Nefertiti. THE ENVELOPES, PLEASE Thanks to everybody who voted in the flagpole Athens Music Awards selection. You sent in almost twice as many ballots as last year, and you named a good cross-section of the Athens music community. Except for a few obvious attempts at ballot stuffing (which were discounted), the votes came from people and groups trying to help their favorites. And of course that's what the contest is-all about—to recognize those people and bands who Work so hard to make the Athens music scene such a lively and ever-changing kaleidoscope of creativity. The nominees are listed on page 22; the winners will be announced at the Flagpole ' Athens Music Awards Show in the Morton theatre on Thursday evening, June 22 at 7:30 p.m,. Tickets go on sale this week at Big Shot, the Morton and the Flagpole office. Be sure to grab some, because in addition to the heartstopping suspense of naming the winners, and their tearful and sincere acceptance speeches, there's a great lineup of entertainment, a colorful cast of awards presen ters and r back by popular demand from last year, the Dan Nettles house band. WATCH THAT WATER Athens-CUrke County is asking all citizens to comply with a voluntary odd-even watering plan,. People who Live' at even-numbered addresses water on even-numbered days; people at odd-numbered addresses water on odd-numbered days. Got that? Example: if you live at 222 Jackson Street, you water on, like, the 8th, the 10th, the 12th., etc. Got it? Even if you live at an even number on Odd Street, you water on even-numbered days. And, hey: water in the evening or early in the morning. That reduces peak demand, and it also means that less of your valuable water will evaporate, for more information about watering restrictions, call 613-3470 on even-numbered days and 613-3729 on odd.
