PERFORMANCE
Y ATHENS CHORA L SOCIETY Enjoy an evening of
tuneful hilarity presented by the Athens Choral
Society. "P.D.Q. Bach" is the honored composer of
the evening. "Birthday Ode to Big Daddy Bach" is a
rousing salute to J. S. Bach on his 100th birthday.
"The Stoned Guest" is a half-act comic opera based
on the famed Don Giovanni. The finale is a presenta
tion of "Oedipus Tex," which puts a decidedly
Western spin on the famous Greek tragedy. This con
cert will help raise funds for the Society's free con

is "Love: Up Close and
Impersonal." First up is a theatrical reading based on
16th and 17th century works entitled Maid, Wife, or
Widow, directed by Fnnces Teague. Afterwards,
comes the one act play, A Lover of Beauty, a dark and
edgy premiere written by local author Lila Ralston
and directed by Pamela Mitchell. When a famous
movie actor realizes he is being stalked, he relies on
his security consultant Hal to figure out what to do.
"It's about a stalker, but it's the kind'of stalker you
haven't seen portrayed befoie," says Mitchell. Athens

FREE TO BE YOU AND ME The Oconee Cultural Arts
Foundation present its seventh annual children's pro
duction, Free to Be... You and Me by actress Mario
Thomas and directed by local musician Pam
Blanchard with live music performed by the "Sunny-
Side Up" band. Originally published in 1974, this
spectacular collection of stories, songs and poems,
all about the joys of just being yourself (and letting
others do the same), is packed with enough inspira
tion to span several generations. Oconee County Civic
