local duo recently moved here from
Baltimore. Two dudes, one on drums,
one on keys and vocals. They've used
samples and heavy percussion to cre
ate repetitive, spacy melodies, but will
at times go a little more traditional.

(former vocalist for Sovus Radio).
Nancy Shim (synthesizer, flute), Tracy
Tzen (cello, piano) and Mikey Johnson
(samples, vocals) are One Hand Loves
the Other, and the band plays an
entrancing blend of lusciously pretty,
glitchy electro rock, working a lot
of strings, piano and samples into a
noise that suggests a lot of time spent
listening to BjOrk’s Homogenic. Their
compelling new self-titled debut is out
on Stickfigure Records

Philip Kohnen (ex-Boone Dog Trio)
brings his love of Cuban music to the
stage with his “little big band" featuring
