Joseph H. Silver, Sr., President Silver & Associates Now that the 2024 presidential candidates for the Republican Party and Demo cratic Party have been identi fied, the contrast between the two candidates could not be clearer. However, the public information spin has already begun. This includes misin formation, distortion, and out right lies. As I look at some of the television ads, listen to the speeches at the rallies, and read some of the press releas es, I just say, “you cannot make these things up.” I just ask you not to fall for the hype and make the absolute best choice for you and yours. This means that you must be INFORMED! We experienced four years of “Donald Trump” and it was not good. The American people made that loud and clear when they decided not to elect him to a second tenn. Not only did he not participate in the tra ditional transfer of power cere mony, but he has also spent the last four years spouting the lie that he actually won the 2020 election. He has shown disdain for American institutions and has spread conspiracy theories to incite people in his base. He incited his followers to take part in an insurrection against the United States. Many of them are in jail while he is still making millions off of the ‘Big Lie.” Now he is signaling that he will incite others declaring if he does not win in 2024, “there will be a bloodbath.” He did not participate in any of the Republican primary debates, and he has not provided any real policies for the forward advancement of the country. Yet, he is the Republican par ty’s choice to head its ticket. He is now making the “border” a major issue as he tries to discredit the Biden administration. This is the same person who campaigned during the 2020 election cycle that he would solve the border problem and he “would make Mexico pay for it.” Well, that did not happen and now he is trying to blame President Biden for the border problem. “You cannot make these things up.” President Biden “crossed the isle” and supported a bipar tisan border proposal. The Re publicans were poised to pass the proposal but that came to a halt when “Donald Trump” Dr. Joseph Silver asked them to vote against the proposal. Wiiy? Was it because it was not a good proposal? Was it because the Republicans did not have significant input? Was it because the border pa trol personnel thought it was a bad proposal? No, it was not any of these reasons. The only reason it did not pass was be cause “Donald Trump” asked the Republicans not to vote for the proposal, and they did what he told them to do. What was his rationale for telling the Republicans to vote “No” on the border proposal? The only reason he gave was that the proposal would give Pres ident Biden a “win” and in an election year, and that would not be good for him (“Don ald Trump”). So, if the border problem was so great, and if addressing the border problem is a national priority, which it should be, then why did he or der his Republican colleagues to vote down the proposal? He put himself and his selfish agenda before the needs of the country and the American peo ple. He has repeatedly made things about him and not the needs of the American people. “You cannot make these things up.” As “Donald Trump” has campaigned in the current election cycle, he has vey pub licly disparaged minorities, immigrants, his former staff, the media, and anyone who disagrees with him. Yet, he de molished a field of Republicans who ran against him in the Re publican primary elections. Continued on Page 9 ROBERT E.
