The Savannah Tribune • Wednesday, April 3, 2024 9 You Cannot Make These Things UP! Joseph H. Silver, Sr., President Silver & Associates He overwhelmingly won in the primaries resulting in each one of his Republican challengers dropping out of the race be cause they realized the grip he has on the Republican Party. However, according to pub lic information sources, fewer than one-third of his former presidential employees have endorsed him. Said another way, more than two-thirds of his former presidential employ ees have chosen not to endorse him. Those not endorsing him, including some of his former cabinet members, have public ly declared that they cannot en dorse him, nor can they support him. They are as follows: Mike Pence, his Vice President; James Mattis, his Secretary of Defense; John Kelly, his Chief of Staff; Mark Milley, his Joint Chief of Staff; John Bolton, his National Secu rity Advisor; Cassidy Hutchin son, his Assistant to the Chief of Staff; Stephanie Grisham, his wife’s Chief of Staff; Sar ah Matthews, his Deputy Press Secretary; Anthony Scaramuc- ci, his White House Director of Communications; Alyssa Farah Griffin, his Director of Strate gic Communication and Assis tant to the President; Bill Barr, his Attorney General; Nikki Haley, his Ambassador to the United Nations; and Mike Pompeo and Rex Tillerson his Secretaries of State. When you look at the list above, remember that “Donald Trump’’ said that he only hired the best people. Yet, many of these “best people” re signed from his administration and are now refusing to endorse him. They point to his inept ness, his self-centeredness, his character flaws, and his abuse of power. These are people who worked for him, and they are telling America and the world that he is not fit for the Office of the President. Maybe the American public should listen to these former “insiders” who saw him up close and personal. They have publicly said that he did not read briefings, that he did not respect the generals, that he was only for himself, that he used the office of the President for personal gains, that he was enamored with dic tators, that he was a habitual liar, that he abused power, and that he is a threat to democra cy. If these folk told us who “Donald Trump” really is, why is it that he still is the choice of the Republican party? The Re publican Party of Regan is now the party of “Donald Trump.” “You cannot make these things up.” As “Donald Trump” has campaigned he has been short on policies and long on insults which motivates his base. Even those he has in sulted have announced their support of him, the most recent of whom is Senate Minority Leader “Mitch McConnell.” On the campaign trail, “Don ald Trump” has hurled the fol lowing insults and racist state ments: • Any Jew who votes for the Democrats hates their religion. • General Mark Miley should be put to death. (Miley was his former head of the Joint Chief of Staff) • Immigrants are animals. • Immigrants are criminals. • Black people identify with him because they dislike the justice department, and they like him because of his indict ments that makes him relatable to Black people. • Some migrants are not peo ple. • We will not have another election in this country if he is not elected in 2024. • “They” are coming in from Africa. • There will be a blood bath in the country if he is not elected. • He will become a dictator on the first day in office if he wins. • The people who took part in the insurrections are patriots and heroes. • He would stop support of Ukraine. • The US has no respect on the world stage. • He will lock up his political opponents. • We have a bad economy and a weak military. Even with these in sults and racist statements, Continued from Page 1 “Donald Trump” has a lock on the Republican party. What does this say about those who support him? Obviously, they know that hate speech is not bringing the country togeth er. Yet, they still support him. “You cannot make these things up.” There has to be a larger agenda in this “Mega” move ment. It is a move to suppress the vote to maintain power. It is a move to turn back the time on diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is a move to push white su premacy. It is a move to create laws to prohibit minorities from obtaining any economic gains. There are those who are in our community who tell us how they want the city and county to prosper, yet they provide support to “Donald Trump.” Maybe it is time to reevaluate those people and accept them for who they are. They are sup porting a racist, a businessman who exploits those who he does business with, a liar, and a man who openly disrespects women. “You cannot make these things up.” The only defense to prohibit these blatant attempts from doing more damage is to get out the vote. Plan to elect the candidate who has devel oped an agenda to increase jobs, repair the infrastructure of the country, eliminate stu dent loans, increase pay for the military, protect social secu rity, support Ukraine, support Medicare, and continue to fight inflation and reduce inflation. Black men should not be lured into the negative net set up by “Donald Trump” by linking his mug shot to the plight of Black men. The plights are vastly different and Black men must see and know this - “Donald Trump” has demonstrated that he has no respect for Black people. We must keep this in mind when we go to the polls. “You cannot make these things up.” Do not fall for the hype. Do not fall for the lies. Do not fall for the misinformation. Do not allow our democracy to fall prey to a want-to-be dictator. Vote as your life depends on it because it does!
