He re¬ turned to.Harris county, and going to the residence of Richard Bazomore, stold his daughter and started out in search of , the nearest magistrate. , The buggy broke down however, and Wallace took the.young lady to the house of the nearest ueigbbor and left for Hamilton under the pretense of go¬ ing fpr a marriage license. He has not been seen giuce, and it is learped that in addi¬ tion to his other crimes he has forsaken a wife and children in Lee,county, Ala. Guerry, and was ordered oht sevcral times by her.- He rofussed to go, when she called her son. WalteriGurrry- Before he could get to them the negro dealt her a severe blow on the head. Guerry seeing this, ran -out, picked up a rail, and knocked the colored man down. He was afterward picked up and placed in the gaard house. At Columbus Friday night little Ethel, the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. C. W. Pope, fell in the fire, and was badly burned, at their home on Bose Hill. Pope had left the house for a few minutes, leaving three children in the room, the oldest one being about 7 years of age. Their screams ‘at¬ tracted the attention of the neighbors, who aOtl rendered all possible assis¬ tance. - The little girl is in a critical ■ con¬ dition At Atlanta Wednesday rooming early, between 12 and I o’clock, a little- boy named Pelt Knox was shot on Havnos street by an unknown party. It seems that he, in company with a number ef little boys and girls, Avas returning from a party on Haynes street. There are parts of the street where the gaslights are far, between ar.d the shadows' heavy. John S.-Baker,-of Webster county, says that he succeeded in making on a two mule farm, thirty bales of cotton, 900 busbelo Of corn, and all that ho can eat in the potato and syrup line. He has not yet killed Lis hogs, and says that all he will slay will weigh over 300 and some of them 400 pounds. He has his best cotba yet to sell, and wid hold it for the top of the market. Alfred Floyd (colored), who lives on J. B. Price's piac®, near Leary, had some words with his wife about another colored roan, and he became angry and took hi a gun and shot a load of shot into her thigh and bowels. He was so c'osa to her that the bed clothing she was lying in bed took fire fron the gun. Dr. Gaorge was called to attend her, and he thinks she will not live.
