If will be worth a good deal to the community. Trains on the A. & F. railroad have been irregular this week. When trains don’t run on time people grumble. One morning this week a calf was found shut up in a room on the ground floor the court house. Boys will be, boys, Mr. S. P. Carnes has returned to his home in Jonesboro, after visiting his brother at this place for a few weeks. A large lot of gents’ and boys' hats jnat received. They were bought at a bargain and will be sold at rock bottom prices. Wright & Allen, Prof. Power’s school i3 growing larger. There are fully one hundred children in and near Knoxville that ought to attend tbis school. Mr. Ned Barber has gone to Jonesboro o look after certain business for himself. Xc 1 is a jolly, good young man and irnox ville will miss him at once, Mr. Jones, of the Central City, was in town the first part of the week visiting his uncle, Dr, Jones, and looking after some busiuess. Mr. Henry Britt wishes the public to know that he has a shop in the rear of jilasingame’s store, where he is prepared to repair boots and slices in good style and on short nptice. George Ilortman is now.a yardmastcr for the Brunswick & Albany railroad, at the latter town. The people of Knoxville are. beginning to see the.need of town governmeent, and want to .have this place, incorporated. Tfe should be done as soon as possible. An enjoyable dance was given at the residence ofJMr. J. R. Beeland on Wednes nay night. The weather being rains not very many were present but the festivities lasted until late in the night.: . Mplindy Pope, a colored woman of this place, is sorely distressed. A few days ago she had snugly stored away, in her house several pieces of bright silvet? money which she had accumulated by industry and economy, and now her bank, like old Mother Hubbard's cupboard, is “bare.” She estimates her missing wealth at $8.50. For certain reasons Malindy suspected that Lizzie Moorehousa,. a- female of simi lar complexion, had appropriated unto herself the absent money, and, aecording swore ou t a warrant against Miss jjj ore[l(mse Oo Sunday Lizzie was lodged in jail. Monday she , was tried before A. J.
